Get ready for the new format of SAP’s 25th TechEd conference on December 8-10: fully virtual, entirely free and with over 500 sessions held by experts and technical thought leaders in their field. No badges, no bags, no queues, but plenty of open source lectures or workshops. And you can listen to the talks from your sofa (if you wish) and dont have to worry about where to find the room for the next talk. Just make sure, you have enough coffee (or tea) at home to enjoy the 48-hour marathon of tech talk.

500 Sessions… How can I pick, what is most relevant to me?

As part of the SAP Open Source Program Office, I would like to give you guidance on which sessions touch open source and might be relevant, if you are an eager contributor to open source already or want to become one.

On our live-Channel1, there will be a talk about the German Corona-Warn-App as a recent example of a major open source project developed by SAP together with German Telekom. Tune-in on Dec 10th at 10 am CET.

There are several sessions about our open source projects Kyma and Gardener. Some workshops are overbooked already, but might be offered again as online workshop in Q1 of 2021.

OpenUI5 is part of different workshops and lectures.

  • Lecture: SAPUI5 - All you need to know [DEV108] with Stefan Beck, Chief Product Expert, SAP SE on Tuesday, Dec 8 from 10:10 PM - 10:50 PM CET and on Wednesday, Dec 9 from 10:10 AM - 10:50 AM CET.
Check out the improved SAPUI5 performance and new tools for the best user experience for SAP Fiori apps and beyond.

  • Workshop: Automated SAP Fiori Testing with Continuous Delivery [DEV267]
with Maxim NaidenovProduct Owner, SAP Labs Bulgaria and Sagari Arora, SAP SE. Both workshops are fully booked, but with the UA-made hands-on guide (available in the Tutorials Navigator just before the session) and a fully self-contained demo app in the GitHub repository you can easily follow along without the testing intro. (The workshop is a hands-on exercise in writing E2E tests for UI5 applications. The sample app is based on OpenUI5 and the test uses UIVeri5, both of which are open-source projects)

  • WorkshopDeveloping Apps with SAPUI5 [DEV164] with Martin Haeuser, Developer, SAP SE and Florian Vogt, UI5 Core Developer, SAP SE on Wednesday, Dec 9 from 2:30 AM - 4:30 AM CET

  • BreakoutBeyond SAPUI5 and SAP Fiori Elements [IIS114] with Marius Obert, Developer Advocate, SAP SE. This 20 minutes presentation will be available around the clockthere is no interaction in this recorded session.

Still some white spots on your agenda? Check out the following sessions with open source related content, featuring SAP initiated projects or open source libraries.

Let me know, if you come across any other content interesting for the open source community and I can add it to this list above.

In any case, the Open Source Program Office is planning further podcasts and webinars, as well as hands-on sessions next year – please stay tuned.

Last but not least, there are two podcast episodes going live in December related to Kyma and Gardener project: Dec 9th is about Gardener and on Dec 23rd we will feature a Kyma interview.
