Last week in my blog Linking the Application Log with corresponding background job I described how it is possible to bring the job processing data from transaction SM37 together with the valuable application log data (e.g. transaction SLG1). At the end of the blog I already reveleaed that we will provide several new exception key figures for SAP APO, that will make use of the linkage between job and application log data. That's the content of this blog. Since Monday (February 11) the new ST-A/PI 01Q is available for download on the SAP Service Marketplace http://service.sap.com/supporttools. Besides many other new and enhanced key figures we developed a complete set of new SAP APO key figures, especially focusing on exception analysis. We took the following most common planning runs from DP, SNP and PP/DS and developed corresponding exception key figures

As was already mentioned in the previous blog Linking the Application Log with corresponding background job you need to implement SAP note 1706526 "BAL_DB_SAVE: save Loghandle also in Batch Context Table" (https://service.sap.com/sap/support/notes/1706526) on your SAP APO system and need to configure the Criteria Manager before job data and application log are linked together. But when this was done and you configure one of the key figures mentioned above then key figure is listing you all exceptions (i.e. error messages) that occurred in the selected time frame for all respective planning runs that were regularly executed in background (i.e. with a fixed job variant not a dynamic/temporary job variant).
An example detail list for "Exceptions during PP/DS planning run processing" could look as follows
Now if you click on one of the listed exceptions then the corresponding complete log file is displayed for further analysis.
