In this blog post I will share how I prepared myself to sit the SAP Cloud Platform - Enterprise Extension certification exam (C_CPE_12) and share some tips if you are interested on doing the exam as well.
There is a lot of content available out there for SAP Cloud Platform. It can be a bit overwhelming if you are trying to digest all of it when preparing for a certification exam. Below, I share how I prepared myself to sit the certification exam.
Learning Journey: Check out the learning journey for the SAP Cloud Platform: Enterprise Extension - Certification Path. This is like your golden path. I personally completed the SAP Cloud Platform Essentials openSAP course and covered the material CP100 (SAP Cloud Platform) and CLD200 (SAP Cloud Platform: Enterprise Extension). Note that there are learning journeys for pretty much every SAP technology. It is a great place to start if you want to learn a particular technology/product and don't know where to start. CP100 will give you more of an overview of the SAP Cloud Platform and CLD200 focuses more on the development side of things.
SAP Learning Hub: Before being part of SAP, I used to pay for the SAP Learning Hub subscription and I found it extremely valuable. Now that I'm an SAP employee, I get access to it 😃. In my opinion, if you are interested in learning about SAP technologies, getting access to the SAP Learning Hub is a no brainer. You will be able to access the course content recommended to sit the exam - CP100 and CLD200. If you look at the table of contents of both courses, you can see that there is some overlap in them. Still, it is good to reinforce the concepts explain in those sections as they are important in the exam.
Hands-on experience: Let's be honest..... nothing beats hands-on experience. You can read and study all the content but playing with the tools, developing apps in SAP Cloud Platform will provide you the experience required to sit the exam. Fortunately, you can get an SAP Cloud Platform trial account and start developing/deploying your apps for free. This will give you a good understanding of how the SAP Cloud Platform is structured - accounts, spaces, services, etc. Also, check out the content related to SAP Cloud Platform in https://developers.sap.com/tutorial-navigator.html?search=SAP%20Cloud%20Platform.
If you are new to SAP Cloud Platform, it will take you some time to go through all the content but it will be completely worth it. You will be learning the latest and greatest regarding SAP offerings and understanding SAP's cloud strategy. That being said, if you have experience with other cloud providers (which was my case) e.g. Amazon Web Services, Google Cloud Platform, Azure, the principles related to Cloud Native Development are the same for SAP Cloud Platform. For example, concepts related to APIs, microservices, distributed systems, fault tolerance, resilience, sync/async communication, messaging. Given that we are all working in the cloud, the same principles apply to the different platforms.
For someone with lots of SAP Cloud Platform experience, going through the content covered in CP100 and CLD200 will be simple for you. That being said, it is still important to review it as you will always learn something you weren't aware of.
If you've made it this far in the blog post, it might be because you are interested on sitting the certification exam.... best of luck 👍.
