Now 11 years after first benchmarking the broadly define Mobile Enterprise Management (MEM) marketspace, researchers at IDC today named SAP today the global leader by a 2:1 margin over the nearest of 17 competitors.

Continuing in three-part harmony, IDC notes vendors as part of the MEM ecosystem including:

2. Mobility Companies

3. Pure Play MEM ISVs.

All of these segments are experiencing rapid growth of course as businesses worldwide adopt tablets, smartphones and productivity boosting apps.   IDC expects CAGR of 31.8% over the next 4 year forecast period, resulting in total MEM software revenue of $1.8 billion by 2016.  The full verse of IDC’s MEM definition includes most everything a modern mobile business needs with a focus on mobile device management (MDM) and mobile application management (MAM).

By executing to the needs of more than 195,000 global customers, SAP was named MEM MVP by also delivering the industry’s most complete mobility product lifecycle. It’s simply not enough to secure devices or apps, customers want to rapidly deploy a well written, scalable songbook of apps, analytics, security, cloud and partnerships.  A great example of all of these elements perfectly orchestrated is the use of Amazon Web Services EC2 cloud offering for SAP Afaria software.

After a successful recording stint, music fans always want to know what’s coming next?  Sneak previews point towards further integration of application development, MDM, MAM and secure content management both on premise and in the cloud.  Businesses are producing mobile content at an alarming clip according to cloud-based secure content innovator Box. Box, an SAP Ventures investment, publicly notes millions of business and end-user customers already securing increasingly mobile content.
