In the last 2016 TechEds, I had the pleasure to bring you a talk on Massive Predictive Analytics (I could have called it Massive Machine Learning...).

The purpose of this talk is two folds: first, it is a reminder that Predictive Analytics and Machine Learning are already here: a large number of organizations are currently investing in predictive and machine learning, and that Predictive Analytics should not be considered anymore as a lab or research center actvity but really as a way for organizations to improve their margins and attack new business models.

The notion of massive machine learning covers two aspects:

  • Massive predictive factory is concerned about the automation of the full life cycle management of predictive models in operations: a small team of people can manage thousands of operational predictive models

  • Predictive for the Masses is not a self-service tool, decoupled from operations, but rather focuses on the integration of predictive actions (including training machine learning systems) within the workflows that the users are using on a day to day basis (such as a marketing assistant using Hybris or a Finance team member using S/4HANA).

The video of the lecture can be found here:

This notion of massive machine learning has driven the way we invest into our flagship product SAP BusinessObjects Predictive Analytics.

And this strategy has led SAP to be recognized as a leader in the last Forrester wave on Predictive Analytics and Machine Learning.

Happy Reading!
