This week, we are sitting down with Product Manager harshavardhan.jegadeesan. Harsh and I met up when we were in Leiwen about a month ago to talk about SAP's API strategy for developers. He shared his insight on the tools SAP has for developing and consuming APIs. I linked some tutorials below if you haven't tried these out yet!
Here's my key takeaways from sitting down with Harsh:
SAP is really focused on getting a robust toolset out for developers to manage the entire lifecycle of APIs from design to monetizing and consumption. It's exciting to be working with these teams as we see the software world shift even more towards the API/microservices architecture in all industries, not just high tech anymore!

Here's my key takeaways from sitting down with Harsh:
- APIs aren't just about consumption: We talk a lot about developing WITH APIs, but what about API Makers, the people developing APIs? SAP is also focused on developing world class tools to help developers monetize their APIs. Learn more about the API Management solutions and try it out with these tutorials.
- Reducing time to first call (TTFC): The SAP API Business Hub is helping developers get to the API faster than ever. No need to set-up another eco-system! The SAP API Business Hub enables you to get to an API and have a sandbox set-up for you with only having to log in. If you want to get started with the SAP API Business Hub, try these tutorials.
- Integration and access to APIs is key: APIs shouldn't live in isolation. The point of APIs is that they should be included in applications. SAP is focusing on having an API first mentality where it is easy to integrate with APIs in our developer tools like SAP Build and SAP Web IDE.
- Enabling customers to design and develop APIs: Good API design and development paradigms shouldn't be held hostage by tech companies! For 2018, SAP wants to empower their customers and partners to build great APIs that work for their business. If you are a customer, you can look forward to working with the leaders in the enterprise business tech to help you build your API first architecture as well. Because APIs are the future!
