Having recently written about some of the analyst recognition SAP received in 2018, I’m very excited to be able to pick up where I left off with yet more great news for SAP HANA, our market-leading in-memory platform that supports both operational and analytical use cases for over 27,000 customers.

In January, SAP was recognized as a Leader in Data Management Solutions for Analytics by Gartner for its completeness of vision and ability to execute. This is the seventh year in a row SAP has been positioned in the Leaders quadrant.*

Cloud Freedom for Our Customers

SAP sees its placement in the Leaders quadrant as a testament to the fantastic work done by the entire team to deliver a platform that reimagines business processes and offers real-time insights.

At SAP, we have a strong multi-cloud strategy and relationships with all the major cloud service providers. We are convinced that this open and agnostic cloud approach allows us to offer our customers maximum choice. We want to ensure they enjoy the cloud freedom to rapidly develop and deploy their applications anywhere with the cloud provider of their preference. Customers can expand into new geographical areas or leverage new services offered by different providers by moving their SAP HANA-based applications and data assets to the new vendor when needed.

Advanced Analytics and Intelligent Technologies

We also see that our strong focus on multi-model analytics, machine learning, and artificial intelligence (AI) capabilities within SAP HANA played a key role in our positioning in the Magic Quadrant.

Only SAP HANA enables real-time analytics on transactional data – including multi-model data like spatial, graph, and documents.

SAP HANA is designed to handle both transactions and analytics in-memory without data replication, enabling customers to do advanced processing and analyticsdirectly within our platform. This ability to provide a single, trusted, and unified view of data to enable advanced analytics is what we consider to be another clear highlight of the platform.

Furthermore, SAP HANA includes native, high-performance predictive and machine learning algorithms and integration with TensorFlow and R Server to reveal meaningful patterns in data and build applications that can automate some of the manual business processes. Intelligent technologies are a key aspect of our intelligent enterprise vision, and you can expect many more developments across the board in this area.

The Advantages in Action

Asian Paints, a customer-centric, Indian, multinational paint manufacturer, worked with SAP to build a data platform that could support the rapid pace of growth of their busine.... The ability to process transactions and analytics on a single platform has allowed the company to equip their workforce with the latest information at their fingertips to better serve the needs of their customers.

“The biggest advantage of SAP HANA for us has been the speed in which we could adopt the platform,” said Harish Lade, vice president of IT, Asian Paints. “In some data pools, we have been able to achieve a reduction in data load times of around 90 percent, and by investing in SAP HANA, we have been able to scale out our IT architecture to support the growth of our business.”

We believe this recognition, along with our recently announced inclusion in the January 2019 Customers’ Choice for Operational Database Management System..., is a great way for us to kick off the new year.
