....and here at SAP we are creating the next generation of Predictive Analytics tools. To give some back story SAP acquired KXEN 3 years ago and with it a suite of tools aimed to bring predictive analytics to the masses. It came with the Desktop tool Infiniteinsight, Client Server Tools and also Factory for scheduling.

In parallel SAP was busy developing it’s own offering Predictive Analysis aimed at the Data Scientist and leveraging the power of both R and HANA to enable customer to build complex models quickly.

The culmination of these products was realised with the Launch of SAP BusinessObjects Predictive Analytics 2.0 in February 2015 where we combined the above to offer a tool to our customers that could be used by both the Data Analyst and Data Scientist.

Fig 1. The SAP Predictive Analytics 2.0 comprises of a number of components: Data Manager, Automated Analytics & Expert Analytics and Model Manager.

SAP’s development and vision did not stop here and we were aware that although we were offering both as a combined product there were still differences with look and feel, usability and interoperability. You have been talking to us and we have been listening.

With SAP BusinessObjects Predictive Analytics 3.0 we address these topics by integrating the Predictive Analytics components in to a new central platform with a next generation SAP Fiori User Interface for SAP BusinessObjects Predictive Analytics 3.0.

The new architecture means a more robust platform based on some of SAP’s existing technologies while showcasing the latest cutting edge features in SAP Fiori design to enable a simplified and more intuitive user experience. Using modern UX design principles, SAP Fiori delivers a role-based, consumer-grade user experience across all lines of business, tasks, and devices.

Our goal is not to just to integrate the individual components to a new central platform but to re-imagine the predictive experience for our users. Whether a user is preparing data, building a model or scheduling a training we aim to ensure a common and streamlined user experience regardless of the task they are trying to perform.

The first component to be moved is the Predictive Factory – formerly Model Manager, and not only will it have the great features from its predecessor, scheduling scoring, training, deviation analysis and time series forecasting but will also bring a number of exciting new features not just in Predictive Factory but in Predictive Analytics outlined in blogs The future of SAP Predictive Analytics is here with 3.0 and in our Predictive Factory Tutorial.

In the coming releases of SAP BusinessObjects Predictive Analytics we will gradually unify the end to end process for advanced analytics for Data Set preparation to Modeling to applying to scheduling and embedding all from a central platform with an intuitive and easy to use Fiori user interface.

We will add key features such as enabling Expert models to be managed within Predictive Factory, seamless integration between Automated and Expert mode and continue to leverage the power of SAP HANA within the Predictive Suite.
