On March 20, we announced the general availability of SAP Predictive Analytics, application edition, at the Gartner Data & Analytics Summit in London (read the press release). Working together with Accenture, we’re able to bring a lot more innovations to the SAP application landscape that deliver powerful new capabilities to our customers.
SAP Predictive Analytics application edition is part of the broader SAP Leonardo offerings. SAP Leonardo provides a rapid path to digital innovation by combining design services, an industry-leading cloud platform and applications, deep expertise in business processes, and the most innovative new technologies like machine learning. As I indicated in an earlier blog, SAP Predictive Analytics, application edition, is a game changer for SAP applications and, more importantly, for SAP S/4HANA (which can now bring together intelligent ERP both in cloud and on premise).
Machine learning solves business problems by utilizing mathematical models that can extract knowledge from data with their ability to see, read, listen, understand, adopt, retrain, and interact. It’s a very sharp contrast to traditional software engineering, which solves business problems purely by business logic. With machine learning, you hypothesize a model that solves specific use cases, and that model can adopt to the respective changes in the data —in other words, it’s learning and training itself.
