With SAP Analytics Cloud, you can receive actionable insights in real-time and make end-to-end decisions with confidence. Before you can start your journey towards data-driven decision-making, however, you will need to connect your on-premise or cloud data sources to SAP Analytics Cloud through a data connection.
The following article will cover connectivity options and tips while providing the necessary links to enrich your learning and help you get the most out of your data.
Please note that all Connection Guides can be found on the SAP Help Portal.
There are two types of connections to choose from: live data connections and import data connections. The difference is, while both live and import connections are available for cloud and on-premise data sources, import connections copy data within SAP Analytics Cloud and create new data models to be used for analysis. On the other hand, with live connections, you can create models, build stories based on said models, and analyze them online in real-time without any data replication.
For more information on live data connections, including notes on same-origin policy, cross-origin resource sharing (CORS), and general best practices when creating a live connection, see our overviews here and here. For more information on import data connections, visit our SAP Help Portal page here.
Depending on your connection choice, you can connect to a series of data sources. Explore the links below to learn how to perform live and import data connections to everything from SAP HANA to Salesforce and Qualtrics.
When choosing between a live or import data connection, it's important to consider criteria points such as your functional needs, as well as data volume and data privacy constraints. You also want to consider system requirements and technical prerequisites. Doing so will help ensure that SAP Analytics Cloud meets all of your needs and can deploy smoothly while providing the best possible insights.
Once you have decided which connection type is suitable for your company's purpose, it's helpful to approach the deployment and maintenance of the task from a project management standpoint. For insights on how to manage an SAP Analytics Cloud connectivity project, click here.
SAP Analytics Cloud supports the SAML 2.0 web browser-based single sign-on (SSO). SSO enables you to access any of your connected web properties with a single identity. To learn more about SAML, Identity Providers, user and role management, and backend SSO, click here.
