When using the OCC Alert Reporting in SAP Solution Manager, you can select to display alerts of managed object type "Process Integration (PI/XI) Domain" in the tab "Technical Context"
If you choose this context, you will be greeted by an empty result screen in the OCC Alert Reporting.
The reason for this is not a bug, but the way the MAI structures its metrics and alerts. Typically, the PI metrics are not of managed object type "Process Integration (PI/XI) Domain". You can easily see this in transaction MAI_TOOLS --> Alerting Directory Browser.
If you choose to display metrics for managed object type PI_DOMAIN, you will see that no metrics are available.
So why do you see alerts in tab "PI Alerts" in the alert inbo
You have to remember that in the alert inbox the filter is set on "Monitoring Use Case". This field is currently not available for selection in the OCC Alert Reporting.
The question now is how you can display the PI alerts in the OCC Alert Reporting. For this, let's have a look at what the managed object type of the PI alerts is. You can do so via the Alerting Directory Browser. There, you can see that the PI metrics are of managed object type "Technical Component".
So you have to select managed object type "Technical Component" in the context selection of the OCC Alert Reporting.
This will of course bring you more than just the PI Alerts. At the moment, there is no easy way to filter for just the PI Monitoring alerts.
In the Details View you can at least see the specific alert names and see which ones refer to the PI system.
So how can you display the PI Alerts at the moment? The easiest way would be by defining a dashboard in the Dashboard Builder.
In there, you can set up a tile to display the PI Alerts of a specific time frame (e.g. for today).
The configuration for such a tile looks like this:
Depending on your Solution Manager release, you can create such tiles for various alert reporting key figures. Other examples include:
