As you might know, the DBA Cockpit is a database monitoring and administration tool for SAP systems. I would like to share a few news with you about it:

DBA Cockpit Documentation Now Public

So far, the documentation for the DBA Cockpit was available on SAP Service Marketplace, which was open to SAP customers and partners, but required a login with user name and password. You might be pleased to hear that this has changed. The documentation is now public on SAP Help Portal, no login is required anymore:

Network Statistics

Some of you might have already noticed the latest enhancement, which has been available for quite a while now: a new monitoring screen for network statistics. If you haven’t seen it yet, watch our three-minute video to get an idea:

DBA Cockpit: Network Statistics (3:25 min.)

Outlook into the Future: The Technical Monitoring Cockpit

If you have used the DBA Cockpit for monitoring SAP systems on IBM Db2 for Linux, UNIX, and Windows, watch out for a new tool that might replace the DBA Cockpit in the future – the technical monitoring cockpit. In comparison to the DBA Cockpit, the technical monitoring cockpit has the following advantages:

  • The technical monitoring cockpit provides a unified user interface for monitoring the operating system, the database, and the application server of your SAP system.

  • There’s also no need to wait for the next support package. We provide content update, that is, you can download updates from SAP Support Portal and upload the updates to your system – no need for an upgrade.

The technical monitoring cockpit comes with a SAP UI5 user interface and the possibility to switch to SAP’s older UI technology, SAP GUI, if you prefer this.

The technical monitoring cockpit is already available, but bear in mind that you probably won’t find all the features that you know and like from the DBA Cockpit yet – but we are working on more. By the way, the network statistics are already available in the technical monitoring cockpit.

Have a look at our video to get a first impression:

Technical Monitoring Cockpit: Introduction (3:23 min.)
