LATEST UPDATE: December, 2020 =========================================

This blog is part of a series to help you pass the SAP Certified Technology Associate - SAP HANA 2.0 certification exam, C_HANATEC_13.

Topic Areas

There are 10 topic areas and you can expect about 8 questions for each topic.

On my exam - but your mileage may vary - I only had 4 questions give or take categorized as MDC. However, when counting all questions that included a reference to multitenancy, the count came to 20. In other words, a quarter of the exam tests your knowledge on this topic. Make sure you master it!

In this blog, I will discuss the Multitenant Database Containers (MDC) topic.

On the SAP Training website for C_HANATEC_13, the exam objective for this topic is stated:
Explain the SAP HANA Multitenant Database Containers
architecture and understand the differences in
database administration and backup and recovery.

Study Material

The study material for this topic comes from training

You can download the index of the guide with the units and lesson objectives from the SAP Training website.

There is no dedicated unit on MDC. The topic is included in the units about architecture, deployment options, backup and recovery, and security.

This topic is also addressed in the following SAP HANA guide:

Multitenant Database Containers (MDC)

Not surprising, considering that MDC is a new topic in the C_HANATEC_13 exam, you can expect a fair number of questions about this topic. Make sure you understand the relationship between the system and the tenant database(s), tenant database isolation, port assignment, the web dispatcher (for XS classic), tenants in a distributed system (scaling-out), and single to multitenant conversion.
