As mentioned in the blog, the SAP Cloud Platform cockpit has been enhanced to provide a unified experience across environments and regions. The main goals of this unification are the following:
One view for all your Global Accounts
Unified self-service subaccount creation
Unified member management
Unified entitlement management
The new domain model with its entities and their relations can be represented as follows:
While the above skeleton explains the new domain model, the following section explains the step by step guide to the new experience.
Step 1: Login and Explore
The experience begins right after the login. No more juggling around with regions to see the Global Accounts. All the Global Accounts that are provisioned for you are visible right after the login. The home page contains default view of the list of Global accounts.
As soon as I login, I see the list of all Global Accounts along with the number of subaccounts and regions associated with each of the Global Accounts.
As shown in the snapshot above, there are filter options to enable easy search options through the list of Global Accounts that are provisioned for the user. You can also see the full list of services on the platform by clicking on the ‘Services’ tab.
The icons on the right corner on the tile in each of the Global Accounts represents the membership of the user who is logged in. This way its easy to find out if you are a member of a Global Account or an admin.
Click on the user icon to check the user settings like Language and theme along with the User details like ID and mail address.
Step 2: Viewing the old way
For those who like the old way of login, can see the regions and environments from the ‘Region’ tab.
Clicking on the Environment in the region takes you to the list of Global Account specific to the region and environment.
Let’s see the next level of detail once we navigate to a Global Account.
Step 3: All in one view
Once you navigate to a Global Account, you will see all the subaccounts across environments and regions within that Global Account. The administrators of the Global Account will see the Entitlements and Members along with all the subaccounts in the Global Account.
Step 4: Downloading the Data Processing Agreement
The Data Processing Agreement (DPA) is also available for preview and download in case of Cloud Foundry Environment. Simply click on the info icon of the subaccount and verify the details.
Step 5: Create a subaccount in a jiffy
SAP also introduced a self-service subaccount creation where you can create a new subaccount in the environment of your choice.
Shown below is the snapshot for creating a new subaccount in Cloud Foundry Environment.
Note that the “Provider” and “Region” details are listed based on the Environment that you select.
For Neo environment, the step would be the same, just that the data center choices would vary. Along with that we have also provided an additional feature that lets the admin to copy the settings like Trust, Destination and Members from an existing Subaccount on the same region.
Step 6: Entitlement – Unified Enough!
Now let’s move on to the Entitlement tab from the home screen.
Yet another unified experience is with the Entitlement management. You can control the entitlements like Application Runtime, plans for Postgres, MongoDB, HANADB, Destination, etc. for the entire lot of subaccounts (across the environments) from the Global Account view. The default screen shows the entitlements assigned to the subaccounts.
Click on ‘Edit’ to make the changes.
From here on, the subaccount and other navigations remain unchanged for now.
Step 7: Adding a member
To add members at the Global Account level, just navigate to the Members view and click on ‘Add Members’. Provide the necessary User IDs separated by commas, spaces, semicolons or line breaks to add administrators. This way you can add Global Administrators across the environments.
To add members at the subaccount, navigate to the subaccount and click on the members tab to add/edit members and the corresponding roles.
