From a system landscape architecture perspective, there are different ways to make SAP Fiori available to users. The SAP Fiori front-end server is the component to deploy SAP Fiori to users. From an architecture perspective, let’s see how Fiori is used within an SAP S/4HANA on-premise single system environment.

This scenario represents a typical starting point to run SAP Fiori for both net-new  SAP S/4HANA on-premise customers and customers who have upgraded their ERP.

This deployment option can be characterized by

  • SAP Fiori UIs decoupled from the backend functionality (separate shipment)

  • Enablement of SAP Fiori front-end server components in the SAP S/4HANA application backend system

  • Deployment of Fiori apps in the SAP S/4HANA backend application system (UIs are co-deployed with the related OData services)

  • Use of in-built performance improvements per default

As an alternative to using Fiori within an SAP S/4HANA on-premise single system environment, there are also other landscape deployment options for the SAP Fiori front-end server.
