The Beacon nugget SAP Fiori’s Micro Process Flow: In the Know at a Glance explained how the micro process flow visualizes the state of individual steps in a workflow. See in the video how the status indicator and micro chart can reveal more data insights if needed.

Status indicator – rich semantic possibilities

The status indicator uses a filled, meaningful shape to visualize a value, for example, a plane for transportation. To show how close the process is to completion, it gradually fills with color. For best semantic associations, you might want to have it start with red, changing over to orange, and then green. A label can be added to the shape. Even though the control appears to be decorative, only use it if it helps your use case. Also, it isn’t meant for ratings.

Micro charts for a quick overview

Micro charts visually represent the relationship and changes between numeric values in an easy and way. They can be embedded in tiles, tables, lists, object page headers, SAP Smart Business drilldowns, and any SAPUI5 container. There are nine micro chart types. To choose the correct chart type, first define the kind of relationship you want to illustrate: ranking, comparison, variation over time, part to whole, deviation, or distribution.

Does your use-case require more complex non-linear workflows? Please check out the process flow.

Thanks to our UX designer Yordanka for sharing her expertise in micro charts!

Answer to the quiz in SAP Fiori’s Micro Process Flow: In the Know at a Glance
The second to last row displays the last step as completed while the previous step shows a negative status. This isn’t possible in a dependent workflow.
