For quite some time now you were able to run productive SAP workload on the Microsoft Azure Cloud. The most important thing in this context is the support from SAP.
So far we had quite a big list of fully HANA certified options in Azure. Starting from smaller sized virtual machines up to so called SAP HANA Large Instance with up to 20 TerraByte of memory -- single node! Customers have the choice to pick the right systems to get the required size for their Sandbox, Development, Test and also productive systems.
What we have just announce now is that you can run your SAP HANA workload with up to 4 TB of memory on a fully virtualized machine. So if you need to run a 2 TB HANA sandbox later today -- in a supported environment -- , you can easily do this.

One way to quickly get started with this setup is to head over to our SAP HANA on Azure script on GitHub. With only a few lines of commands you can deploy a SAP HANA 2.0 system on an M-Series (if you only want to run a Sandbox system you could also do this on an E-Series with for example only 256 GB of memory).
