Q: Is BW /4HANA 2.0 the Data Warehouse Cloud?

A: No, it is a different product

Q: Can we get the presentation slides ?

A: ASUG cannot share road map slides, but this is is a good link in lieu of sharing slides

Q: Will there be a BW/4HANA freemium version like HANA Express?

A: You can start a trial at

Q: can we build custom fiori apps in BW4HANA to publish it on BW4HANA cockpit

A: This is not possible but it is on the radar

Q: With extension nodes, will BW/4HANA be more scalable on-premise solution?

A: Yes, that is the idea

Q: Is there SAP BW/4HANA Trial version available for learning purpose

A: go to

Questions answered by SAP after the webcast:

Q: Is it mandatory to convert attributes and analytical views to graphical calculation views when moving to HANA 2.0 from HANA 1.0 ,as BW/4HANA requires HANA 2.0?

Yes based on the one view concept Calculation Views are supported with Hana 2.0. There is a migration tool available to migrate attributes and analytical views to calculation views.

Q: . What are the licensing options for BW/4HANA?

Please contact your Account Executive for licensing information.

Q: We still need to use SAP GUI backend to do few things in modeling and

administartion. Switching between SAP GUI and Eclipse is a bit inconvenient. When will we get all functionalities such as BI Content Activation, Transport STMS and complete administration in Eclipse or BW/4HANA cockpit?

BI Content activation is part of the BW/4HANA Roadmap.

Q: What about archiving? Is that also supported on Eclipse or BW/4HANA cockpit?"

In BW/4HANA we introduced Data Tiering Optimization for hot/warm and cold data.

  1. When is the BW/4HANA 2.0 certification being released?

Not sure what kind of certification is meant here.

Q: If I'm BW on HANA certified, can I directly take the BW/4HANA 2.0 or do I

first need to complete BW/4HANA 1.0 certification?

Not sure what kind of certification is meant here.

Q: For a BW consultant, should he/she focus time and effort on learning BW/4HANA

or SAP Datawarehouse Cloud?

BW consultants need to focus on both products BW/4HANA and Data Warehouse Cloud.

  1. What's the roadmap for BPC Integration with BW/4HANA ?"

BPC is fully supported with SAP BW/4HANA.

SAP BW/4HANA supports BPC 11.0 for BW/4 1.0 and BPC 11.1 for BW/4 2.0.

Q: Our situation in early phase of BW4 with SOH as our datasource. However, in a year, we will slowly moving our SOH to S4. This will create two ERP connecting to one BW4. Thus, having source system compounding is important and we  found it time consuming to change / remodel this on bulk due dependency. Any suggestion?

It is to complex to answer this question with one sentence. Please involve SAP Consulting here.

Q: Do we need a separate license in order to use native HANA CVs in BW/4HANA composite provider?

Based on the runtime license for BW/4HANA it is possible to consume/create Hana Calculation Views. For

more details please contact your Account Executive.

Q: "Question on Remodelling: in already existing data flow an ADSO, what is possibility of auto fixing when a infoobject part of Standard business content from BW4HANA is deleted? will this automatically converted to field based or we need to manually change it to field based?

Please find detailed information on the BW/4HANA help page(s).

Q:  can I replace infoobject(with same characteristics) using remodelling and still don't have to reload?"

Yes, that is possible. More details here ->

Q: Also is there any refresh button at dataflow? I work alot from dataflow but when I create transformation and DTP, it doesnt reflected as active.

Unfortunately not but there is a automatic refresh for the data flow object(s).

Q:. When will BW/4HANA support/integrate with Eclipse Che? HANA 2.0 is already integrated so what about BW/4HANA?

Currently not planned.

Q: What is Data selection Statistics

Please find more details here ->

Q: Is there a replacement for APD to write files?

Open Hub is our recommended tool for extracting data out of BW/4HANA.

Q: what options are available for power users to support BYOD ( bring your own data and join with BW data)

Self service BI is supported via SAP Analytics Cloud.

Q: What is the future for BW ? Is it S4/Hana or BW/4Hana

Both products have their dedicated Roadmap. For building a Data Warehouse on premise BW/4HANA is our premium product. S/4 is not meant to build a Data warehouse.

Q: With BW4HANA 2 is it going to be only SQL view generation on ADSO ? Is that mean SAP looking SQL over modeliing view ?

SAP BW/4HANA supports SQL views for lookups as well as generated Hana Views (Calculation scenarios) for 3rd party consumption.

Q: When will the activation of BI Content come to Cockpit?

Currently not planned.
