There are many document related to LSMW already posted. But through this document i would like to share some key points when LSMW has to be created for changes which are related to configurations and all entries have to captured under single TR.

As we are discussing about configuration related changes it will have a Transport Request (TR) for each entry and if there are multiple records to be entered all should be captured under one TR only.

Here for example we are going to upload entries for commodity code

1) T-code: OVE1

Consider the below Data that we need to upload and all under single TR
Country Code         Description

US        86009988     sample55

US        86008989     sample56

US        86008990     sample57

US        86008991     sample58

US        86008992     sample59

US        86008993     sample60

  Important point to Note:
Here 1st entry is added manually and saved so that Transport Request is generated.

Save it

Note the TR number generated.

Now we shall configure LSMW using Batch Input Recording

2) Creating LSMW
T-code: LSMW

Step 1
Maintain Object Attributes:

Create Recording

Insert the second entry in as mentioned in the example

Note :

Please note do not click on the save button here

Go back and system will prompt to save the data

Click on yes and it will show the TR number that was generated when the 1st entry was saved.

Click on default all

Save and go back

F4 in the recording field.

Save and go back , recording is completed.

Now follow the remaining standard steps

Step 2

Source Attributes

Save and go back

Step 3

Maintain Source Fields

Last field ie TRKORR is for TR number

Save and go back

Step 4

Maintain Structure Relations

Step 5

Maintain Field Mapping and Conversion Rules

Save and go back

Step 6

Step 7

Specify Files

Step 8

Assign File

Maintain the TR number correctly

Step 9

Read Data

Step 10

Read data

Step 11

Convert Data

Step 12

Display converted Data

Step 13

Create Batch Input Session

Step 14

Run the Batch Input Session

All records entered sucessfully

3)  Overview and important points to note:

  • Enter the first data and note the Transport Request Number that is created
  • While recording do not click on save button unless systems prompts to save
  • The TR generated in the 1st step should be properly maintained in the i/p file for all entries

If the recording is not saved correctly then,

For each entry the user has to press enter only then the next record will be picked and because of this the same cannot be executed in background in case of too many entries.
