How to Resolve Error in Promotion Management for SAP BusinessObjects BI Platform 4.1 SP5 using CMC

Introduction:

As per the requirement of my customer I had to promote the dashboards from Production Environment to Quality Environment but while promoting it was getting failed. In our case, the existing dashboards in the target environment had to be overwritten. After few attempts to promote the Dashboards, I was able to do it, when I did a change in the Target Environment. I would like to share the issue I faced and the solution for the same in this blog post.

Main Problem:

When I did a Test Promote it was a success, as shown in the below image:

But, when I tried promoting it, it got failed. The reason for this is that the universes that you are trying to promote, exist in the target environment under the Universes section.

Solution:

To promote it successfully, kindly follow the steps mentioned below:

1. In the Target Environment, first go to the universes section by using the Selection List and check whether the universes of the dashboard you promote already exists.


2. Delete those universes that already exists.


3. 
   

   Now again try to promote the dashboards using CMC and it will be successful.
