Get to know your target system with Advanced Data Migration

In my last blog A first technical glimpse into Advanced Data Migration I have hopefully given you an idea, how ADM works fundamentally.

In this blog, I would like to demonstrate how this can be used to understand the data model of your target system.

For this I go to Common – Configuration – System Types Models and select SAP:



Thus, I see all System Type Model Tables that ADM needs to create a respective System Type.

Therefore, I add those tables to my Target Source as before with test table USR01 and start the data replication:



As you can see, table DD02L is already done and loaded 423217 records in an hour and about 40 minutes, whereas table DD02T is currently being processed. Under View Data, I can see that 592754 records have been loaded so far:



Eventually, all tables are loaded successfully, which allows me to add my System Type under Common – System Types – Add:



Next I Import my Data Source to ensure I got all the tables that I need:



With this, I import the Model with System Type Model SAP:



Thus, I get 85735 Tables in 64 Groups:



To get a first overview of my target system, I explore the groups and for example find the group CustomerMasterBasicSAPTables with the tables that define the customer master object in my target system:



Based on this information I can build the Target Mapping for my target system.
