in order to comply with GDPR, we are configuring all our users SAP GUI settings to delete local data files when they close the SAP Logon Pad.

Our HR&  Finance users didn't realise that temporary excel spreadsheets are stored in their "My documents" folder, and have found personal data dating back several years, which would be a breach of GDPR.

Rather than changing the SAP GUI installation server package and rolling out to 75,000 users, we are putting together a registry edit to roll out via Group Policy, so even if a user works out they can change the settings back to "Never" via Customize Local Layout, it will always be overwritten.

By default, this is set to never, so the registry key looks like this

HKCU\Software\SAP\SAPGU Front\SAP Frontend Server\LocalData

After changing the settings to Always during SAP_Logon (pad) shutdown, the registry key now looks like this

Hope this may be of some use & highlights a possible GDPR breach others may not be aware of.
