Ever since I started with working on SAP XI 3.0, I resented the way documentation was done. It was in my book just a lot of waste of time because most of the work was coping the different information into a word document. And we created two seperate documents Techinal and Functional specification. All dumped at some process in Solman. This satisifed the delivery process and everybody was happy that we had provide "Documentation" of what was done.

And in most cases, this word document was just used as a way to show we had done some work. Nobody would take a look at in the future.

My first service when starting Figaf was to make a service that helps people generate documentation of their SAP PI message mappings. And later do a diff between two versions. All delivered to an excel document. The ability to do documentation was stopped with a support pack, so you could no longer export and import the XMI file.

There have been different approaches to creating documentation. There was the XIMaster to create message mapping documentation and the Arianim Udo product that could some documentation of scenarios.

And with some build of Netweaver Developer Studio, it also was possible to export the message mapping in Excel.

With the Figaf tools that we had created, I saw we were missing some steps. We had the support tool that allowed you a better way of monitoring problems in your PI system, we had the change tracking tool to allow you to see what was changed in a communication channel and the test tool to test your interfaces. It would improve the development process if we could add a ticket system to keep track of all changed objects from message mappings to ICOs.

So now we got all the pieces working to together giving users a simple way of documenting and testing the changes they are making.

You can view a demo of it here

I still have a lot on my wishlist for the product, support for Cloud Integration, easier way of monitoring message mappings changes and Excel reporting. It is the first step and we would love to get your input on how we can make it even better.

We have a free plan for you to test your SAP PI/PO/Cloud Integration interfaces. The ticket functionality is also free up to 10 tickets.
