This is a free course you can take at BI Clients and Applications on SAP HANA
You can also follow along with the exercises by using the SAP Cloud Appliance Library (CAL) or SAP HANA Enterprise Cloud / Cloud Appliance Library
The CAL is set up so if you follow the guide you can logon remotely and do the exercises. To be honest, I didn't do the week 1 exercises, but I decided to try week 2 exercises. This week mostly focused on SAP BusinessObjects Lumira Desktop and Lumira Server. Towards the end there was a session on Analysis Office and Analysis OLAP.
Some things I learned:
1) Replacing cities when the Lumira map can't find it
The exercise had you double-click on the German city "Muenster" to remove the "e". It wasn't working for me so I improvised:
2) "Lassoing" to filter data on a chart:
You can highlight what you want to filter or exclude. Here is how it looks before you lasso:
Then you can highlight those that you want to filter or exclude from the filter:
3) Changing color on a legend:
Right click to change the legend color
Some other tips:
In the Compose room, use the Board for a story for interactivity; reports are like sections
james.rapp also says that the "Append" dataset feature in Lumira is like a union (why didn't I think of that). Of course you get the opportunity to "append" (union) and merge (join) in the exercises.
Although not in the exercises, I did share my "story" from the exercise to Lumira Cloud - see https://cloud.saplumira.com/open?key=545E24C071041F73E10000000A4E4243&type=HANALYTIC
See the story board below - you know it is a board because it has interactivity and input controls:
Next week if you are in Berlin at SAP TechEd && d-code I recommend trying the hands on EA265 and EA163
