Like those two biblical brothers, sometimes it’s hard for cloud solutions and on-premise solutions to get along. There are infrastructure issues involved, and it can be difficult for dual and hybrid solutions to provide the best service. It’s all about making sure you have the right job and the right ideas in mind.
An article posted recently in SAP’s Community Network explains both the problems and the solutions. A lot can be done with a cloud system working at the right level, with the right tools.
The secret lies in interoperability and integration. Author Sven Denecken writes: “Companies need to avoid information islands and fragmented processes in cloud solutions. Moving into the cloud by losing Enterprise Context is not an option. Integration across solution boundaries is a must to prevent application silos. It requires a strategy that encompasses cloud as well as other (e.g. on premise) solutions.”
Third-party platforms and software can help ease some of the tension between the many applications that run in the cloud and those that are on-premise. It’s ideal to get a working environment up and running that fills the seams between what is available in the cloud and what is necessary on-premise.
