STO transfer between storage locations - CIF problem

Hello.

We are grappling with a CIF issue and would really appreciate it if experienced members could throw some light on the best way to get around this.

<b>Scenario:</b>

APO has two locations X and Y which are storage locations in R/3 (Not plants or MRP areas). The result of a planning run would generate STOs between X and Y in APO. The current process on the R/3 side involves execution of material movement type 311 between storage locations X and Y which is done after completion of the physical process in the warehouse.

<b>Questions:</b>

1. Is there a way to employ CIF and transfer the STOs between location X and Y to R/3 ? (My understanding is - because X and Y are not MRP areas / Plants, there would be a CIF error at the R/3 side)

2. Is there a way to monitor CIF inbound queues on the R/3 side and get the STO transactions into an R/3 table? (Say in the format, Source Loc, Dest Loc, Qty)

3. 311 movement could then be run based on the values thus populated in the R/3 table ?

How are you modelling the two storage locations X and Y in APO. The only possible way I can think of is to create Storage Location MRP Areas for each. In that case X and Y will be two locations of type MRP Area in APO and available for planning. Otherwise APO plant / location does not allow planning between storage locations.

There was a constraint on the R/3 side due to which we could not convert the storage locations X and Y to MRP areas. Due to this, we could not CIF in these locations to APO. So, we created these locations as distribution centers (1002) in APO.

Just to confirm my understanding of your recommendation - convert storage locations in X and Y to MRP areas and CIF them to APO. These get modeled as type MRP area in APO.

In case, we did have to proceed with the above case (with locations manually created in APO), is there a way to use CIF inbound queue in R/3 and extract these values into a table ?

Bad luck. I typed in a big reply and when tried to submit - session had expired.

Anyway I shall try to recall what I wrote in the reply initially.

First I am confused. Have you created two DCs for X and Y storage location in APO manually? In that case transaction (STO) data between them will cause CIF queue inbound to R/3 since the location master is not matching. As a result you cannot extract the STO data from EBAN/EKPO table in R/3.

If you go for the Storage Location type MRP Area you can do with one location (say X) as the Plant level storage location. So Plant 1000 has storage location X while you create a Storage Location MRP Area 1000_MRP and assign Y to it. The material FG1 then created for plant 1000 needs to be extended to MRP Area 1000_MRP. CIF the MRP Area and MRP Area materials. This will create the MRP area as a separate location 1000_MRP of location type 1007 in APO and the product FG1 exists both at location 1000 (plant) and 1000_MRP (MRP Area).

Planning for STOs from 1000_MRP to 1000 should transfer to R/3 without any problem and the STOs available in Sotck Requirement List and associated tables EKPO/EBAN.
