Product interchangeability - Use up strategy issue

Hi All,

We have a specific requirement (mentioned below) where we want to use supersession chain along with rules.

1. Create supersession chain for prececessor and successor material followed by procedure and creating rule in RBA.

2. Ordered material is predecessor which should be immediately replaced with successor (this can be easily achieved by setting "Use-up strategy" field as "No" and Direction field as Forward)

3. Once the stock of successor is over, system should stop replacing ordered material (Predecessor) with successor and predecessor should confirm as per the stock.

I know that Direction field can't be Full if Use-up strategy is maintained as No. If I maintain use-up stratedy as Yes or Restricted, my purpose of consuming successor first will not be met.

Did some one use standard Product interchangeability setup to meet such kind of requirement where Use up strategy field can be used for consuming successor material first and than pointing back to predecessor?

Thanks,

RG

Hello Ravi Gupta,

After setting the Direction as "Full" and Use-Up Strategy as "Yes" for the SuperSession Chain, when you create the RBA rule in /SAPAPO/RBA04, did you try using the rule control as "ABA". Hopefully, that should help.

Assuming that I understood your question clearly, when you use the ABA in this case,

If the requested quantity for the ordered product (A ) is 600 CS and if the ATP of product "A" is 200 and the ATP of the product (B) is 300 ; ATP confirmation comes from "B" first followed by "A" for the remaining requirements.

Hope this clarifies.

Babu,

supersession chaing will not allow cyclic form (A --> B --> A). I understand that in RBA you can define it within the rule control with access strategy. I am looking to use supersession chain as a master data.

Thanks,

Ravi

Hi Ravi,

Rule control with access strategy  respects even supersession chain masterdata. You just have to maintain start from bottom of the list for your scenario. with Direction as "Full" and Use-Up Strategy as "Yes" for the SuperSession Chain.

Hi Ravi,

That's true !!

You need to create a PSP ( Product Substitution Procedure ) in between to map the Supersession chain with the settings mentioned above and map that with the rule that you're creating with the rule control as ABA. This has been tested and it works for sure !!
