POSC+LOSC in Putaway

Hi All

I need help to configure below scenario in EWM. Warehouse receives the inbound HUs which can contains single material or multiple materials. For the normal HU, putaway should happen after unloading and for mixed HUs, putaway should happen after sorting. For this, I have configured de-consolidation and POSC. But somehow, it is not working. All kinds of HUs are coming to de-consolidation workcenter after unload. This is my issue one.

The other challenge here is the mixed HU will be de-consolidated based on material and moved to interim storage area before final putaway. Again here, they re-pack based on capacity of resource and then do putaway. This I have achieved partly by calling LOSC before putaway task in POSC. So, now I will get tasks to move HUs from de-consolidation area to interim storage area and then to final bin. But I am not able to do re-pack at interim storage area.

I have tried to put packing task before putaway task in POSC, and configured interim storage area as work center - LOSC is not triggered.

Any thoughts to solve these issues?

Thanks

Change POSC flags

IB01 flag both flags

IB02 falg auto WT

Check storage type role to accommodate your process of repacking in such place

Or you can achieve Via VAS after decon  on basis of material, so only mat which has vas packspec will go to pack station and if not it will not go to bin.

Hi Suraj

Thanks for reply. I have tried this.

Issue 1:

In all cases still it is directing HUs to de-consolidation area.

Issue 2:

Need to check on the VAS.

I hope your decon issue has to go.

check Ib02 step have set up with rule based.

In this case flow will be if ( A+B)= pallet === decon = Ib01+Ib02+Ib03

and A = pallet and B = Pallet then no decon. = Ib01 + IB03.

and check with out LOSC first and then do POSC with LOSC.

which will give clear pic where is a issue.

Hi Suraj

Thanks, I have tried this. When I remove destination storage bin details from IB02 step and checked rule based flag, I am getting  error while unloading the pallet. It is saying consolidation group is not assigned to target bin. However I have assigned storage type in the Activity Area and pulled consolidation group.

Thanks

I do not think, you need LOSC for your scenario. you can just do it through POSC.

If you are doing just practice. I would encourage you. If you are Implementing for a customer, Please build solution with POSC. that is sufficient.

Hi Sasidhar

When I remove destination storage bin details from IB02 step and checked rule based flag, I am getting  error while unloading the pallet. It is saying consolidation group is not assigned to target bin

>> In this case your bin in this storage type( error storage type)   are not sorted. Also check in easy access you have maintain decon wt + Bin assignment.

If you want to check make new setting.

POSC

Two storage type.  A and B

Create Bin and sort with decon no.

then do decon POSC

these flow will work ( A+B)= pallet === decon = Ib01+Ib02+Ib03

and A = pallet and B = Pallet then no decon. = Ib01 + IB03.

As you error I have suffered many time.

Hi Suraj

Thanks a lot for your help.

Issue 1:

As you said I made deconsolidation step IB02 rule based. For the activity areas, I have assigned consolidation group and sorted bins in those activity areas. Now, if I have normal HU it is directly going to final bin as expected but for mixed HUs it is giving error like "Could not determine deconsolidation station".

Thanks

<<<<<< Update >>>>>

As Juergen advised, I have configured the determination of Deconsolidation work centre. Then it is working fine. Thanks a lot for your help.

Hi Satish

This is the business scenario for mixed HUs.

Door --> Staging Area GR --> Deconsolidation WorkCentre --> MHU2 --> interim storage area --> Final bin;

If I don't have LOSC, I can't move HU to interim storage area where re-packing to be done. To be precise, before putaway and from interim storage area resource may carry partial HU qtys to final bin. Besides this task can also be shared with other resources. Any thoughts how to track product till it reaches the final bin?

Thanks

Hello,

I would suggest you to do with POSC as below.

Door --> Staging Area1 for GR --> Deconsolidation WorkCent --> MHU2 (Pack for Repacking) --> interim storage area (Staging Area 2) --> Final bin;

I would suggest you to Implement LOSC, If you have Conveyer System or AS/RS or Movement of Material Halfway through Manual and Half way through Machine, then I would suggest you to Implement LOSC.

In this case, I would suggest you to build your storage process as below in POSC. And, in External Step, you create two stage Areas, one for GR and One for Interim Staging.

Door --> Staging Area1 for GR --> Deconsolidation WorkCent --> MHU2 (Pack for Repacking) --> interim storage area (Staging Area 2) --> Final bin.

I hope, this should best fit for your requirement.

Hi Satish

Could you please explain the steps in POSC? As of now my configs are like below.

Unload - Rule based

Deconsolidate - Rule based

Repack - ???

Putaway -- using my WPT

1. Unload IB01 (create next task automatically & create Prod WT)

2. Deconsolidate IB02 (create next task automatically)

3. Repack OB02 (create next task automatically)

4. Putaway IB03

I have tried by defining interim storage area as storage type D or I. In both cases, there are no tasks created for repacking and could not repack manually since there are open warehouse tasks for putaway.

Should I call another POSC at repacking step? (don't know if that works or not)

Should I mark the WPT as replenishment task?

Also another issue here is, if I don't use LOSC how can I guide MHU2 to interim storage area on rule based? Or if I enter dest.bin for repack external step, all deconsolidate HUs will be moved to interim storage area which should not happen.

Thanks

Hi Sasidhar

i just want to know that when i am creating 1 HU for 2 warehouse tasks. System is not determining bin-drop area otherwise it is determining bin-drop area.

Mixed product is there in 1 HU at decon station. Can you confirm me it will go to Bin-drop?

OK, deconsolidaton as process step.

- in POSC you can either enter a storage type / section / bin to your external step, that means that every HU moves via the deco workcenter. Or you can flag rule-based.

- where do you assign the work center or storage bin when rule-based is used? That is the entry "specify deconsolidation station", as in the screenshot.

- how does the rule-based work? For this you have TWO possibilites

- when you assign storage bins to an activity area, you can assign a "deconsolidation group" (via the button, it is then in the field "consolidation group". That means if you have final warehouse tasks and they go to different bins in different activity areas with different deconsolidation groups the system moves via the deco work center. Bad luck if you have two materials which go into the same activity area, then the rule based does not work. And if you don't assign the deconsolidation group (or do it later and do not re-order the bins) it also does not work.

  - you can assign a maximum number of WTs in your deconsolidation and you putaway HU. This way also when moving into the same activity area rule based is also triggered. This you have to set up for your destination activity area under "Define attributes for deconsolidaton".

Hi Juergen

As usually you've fixed my issue. Thanks a lot

Thanks for detailed explanation on deconsolidation step. Now deconsolidation is happening properly.

Normal HU:

Door --> Staging Area GR --> Final Bin

Mixed HU:

Door --> Staging Area GR --> Deconsolidation WorkCentre --> MHU1 --> Final bin;

Door --> Staging Area GR --> Deconsolidation WorkCentre --> MHU2 --> interim storage area --> Final bin;

For MHU2, I need to apply re-packing at interim storage area. Though tasks were created for moving HU via interim storage area using LOSC in POSC, no tasks created for repacking. Any thoughts on this issue?

Thanks

Hi,

what role is assigned to your interim storage area? A "regular" storage type? Then you have no workcenter there and you can not pack there, and also of course have no taks of it there.

A workcenter you can only have at storage types with certain storage roles.

Now I never tried to enter a storage type for workcenters in the LOSC, but I think it works. But how do you distinguish what moves over the interim storage type and what not.

PLUS: once you arrive at the interim storage type, your final tasks get active, you can not then pack in other sizes / quantities as in your tasks.

I do not really understand your process.

Hi Juergen

Storage type role is "Workstation in staging group".

You are true, this is the challenge I have now.

PLUS: once you arrive at the interim storage type, your final tasks get active, you can not then pack in other sizes / quantities as in your tasks.

Product WTs are getting created after unloading/staging. When we are able to de-consoliadate incoming HUs at deconsolidation workcenter which is more or less repacking, why SAP is not allowing us to repack HUs at repacking workcenter?

Can we use WOCRs at this interim storage area to split tasks based on some limits at product level?

Thanks

Hi Sasidhar,

if I understood Below process you want to achieve.

POSC + LOSC

POSC >> Unload >> Decon + LOSC + Repack and putaway .

After decon your losc destination is repack ( correct )??

I have not tried but can, you can copy decon wc as repac and function same as what decon and do repacking. in this case even open WT can be considered in WC and you can function as you want.

remember to maintain proper WC master data as stated by Juergen for WC to pic wc bin automatically.

Hi Suraj

I have tried different combinations. Here are the results for each trail.

POSC steps:

1. Unload ;

2. Deconsolidate (trigger LOSC, interim storage area is general/workcenter in staging area)

3. Putaway

This process is working fine for normal HUs and Mixed HUs. Only drawback is I am not able re-pack at interim storage area.

POSC will not allow same internal step more than once.

If I include PACK function...

1. Unload

2. PACK

3. Deconsolidate

4. Putaway

No WTs for packing at step2.

1. Unload

2. Deconsolidate

3. Pack

4. Putaway

No WTs for packing at step 3. Also like for deconsolidation workcenter, we dont have determination table for packing workcenter (or I dont know it). So, I had given destination bin instead of rule based. This is causing not to call LOSC and all kinds of HUs are moving packing workcenter after deconsolidation.

Thanks

Hi Sasidhar,

Check the same tcode where you maintain decon bin in attributes tocde.

You will able to find pack WC.

you are correct due to your non rule based /hard coded this issue you are getting as rule will work in algorithm.

Hi Sasidhar

You Tried all combination.

Can you try once done same activity of repacking in Vas WC.

1. Unload ( IB01)

2. Deconsolidate (IB02)

3. Pack ( VAS ACTIVITY) (Vas1)

4. Putaway. (IB03)

Hope to get as expected you want.

have you tried this??

Hi Guru's,

Pls suggest me the POSC, LOSC for the below process,

Door---->Unload---->Decon---->Rack(Putaway with HU-Box)---->Pick HU to IMU(trolley)--->Bin drop Area(Staging Area)--->Final Putaway to Bin.

Hi Sandeep

Its complete POSC  and LOSC will be part of it...

Step 1 unload

Step 2 Decon

Step 3 putaway >>LOSC >> decon to final bin with LOSC

Decon to Bin drop Area(Staging then to final putaway.

as after decon you have one drop area and then putaway.

or deocn >> pick HU >>drop area >> Final bin.

Hi Suraj,

Thanks for the suggestions, One more question from decon to final putaway to bin for a product, Putaway should happen based on County of origin(COO). The bin should contain same product with same COO. Is this possible through strd Badi or any means. Pls guide....

Putaway Startegy : Addtn to Stock / Next Empty Bin

HI Sandeep,

As advised by Suraj you need to set up your POSC and LOSC. For your requirement of determining a bin in warehouse based on combination of Product + COO you need to have putaway strategy: Addtn to Existing Stock/Next Emply Bin in place for your storage type and you have to do some enhancement for your bin search in below BADI where you can put logic for your COO.

BAdI:  /SCWM/EX_CORE_PTS_FILT_SORT

in this BadI you can put the logic to follow Rule addition to existing stock if for the product there is already some stock in some bin with COO (i.e. USA), if you are receiving same product with COO (USA) then add to existing stock. If your COO for the product is different (i.e. Germany) then it should go to Next Empty bin.

Hope it is helpful and it gives you clarity.
