In the OBP app "Planning Profile", there is a tab labeled "Maximum Latness". We have set this parameter to 365. Unfortunately, it seems that the planning run is still scheduling planned orders even though there are fixed planned orders just a few days later. This is leading to an overlap.
Could there be another parameter somewhere that I also need to set in order for the Maximum Latness to be enforced?
Hi Husch,
Could you please clarify what algorithm (finite heuristic or optimizer) you're using and what demand type (sales order or forecast) you're referring to?
For the finite heuristic, it tries to find a supply using a binary search, but it is not searching for supply but it is searching for a solution (which can include the creation of new supply), and in the end the heuristic will choose the solution with the least lateness and if, like in your case, this solution includes the creation of new supply, then the heuristic will choose this solution because of its smaller lateness. That's the designed behavior of the heuristic.
You may find more details in the SAP Help Portal Late Handling (Independent Demands Only).
I'd recommend you create an enhancement request in our IBP Influence Channel. But as a workaround, you might consider constraining your production until you the date of the fixed planned order so no new production is generated.
Best regards,
Matheus
