I have been trying to enter a component in the PPM for the activities i have defined but then it is giving me the following error

Maintain a material consumption -> alternative component. Can anyone explain to me the solution to this error.

Hi

Pls enter the qty against the component in the PPM. It's basically the consumption.

Hi Suresh.

You need to enter the amount to be consumed/produced. Where you entered the component you have to fill in the fields Unit of Measure and either Variable or Fixed Consumption (Variable is the more common, fixed is normally used for input components where the amount used in an order is the same no matter how many are produced)

For basic scenarios:

- If it is the output component then the variable consumption quantity is the amount that the rest of the PPM data will reference.

- If it is an input component, then the variable consumption quantity is the amount required to produce the variable consumption quantity of the output component
