Hi,
compression can only be applied to cubes. The best way you do this in process chain. There you have its own process types and in process type you are able to define which requests in a cube you want to compresse:
- All of them
- Keep n requests uncompressed and compress the rest
- Compress up to number of days
Unless there is a technical must (i.e. in inventory cube) I recommed to keep last 10 days uncompressed and compress the rest (it depends on your environment and is really application specific).
You keep requests uncompressed when:
- it is likely that you have to delete data from cube by selection a request
- You want to reconcile data
- There is a reporting requirement to drill down or filter on request number
