EWM: Automatic Packing during GR for production

Hello All,

I'm using embedded EWM in S/4 HANA 2022 FPS 02

I'm trying to achieve auto pack during GR from production using tcode /SCWM/GRPI. I'm creating the inbound delivery directly from EWM without EGR (in the embedded version there aren't EGR's).

When I create and save the inbound delivery (doc type INBM) EWM doesn't create automatically the HU's but if I open the "Pack" functionality and press "Pack automatically" EWM creates the HU's without errors or warning messages.

I have created and activated a packspec with standard condition type 0IBD. I have done "HU Check" without errors.

I have updated the "Determination Procedure for Packaging Material Proposal" with 0IBD and the "Partner Role for Determination During Automatic Packing" with SFPRT in Customizing "Define Document Types for Inbound Delivery Process" (IMG->EWM->Goods Receipt Process->Inbound delivery).

Please let me know if I am missing a step.

Yes, I did. If I hadn't, the "Pack automatically" button within the "Pack" functionality wouldn't be able to generate the HUs...‌‌

Well as you mention the HU gets created that would mean your packing fails. I would say check the details of the HU created, capacity and dimensions. I would check if you can pack manually. Sounds like a issue with the HU created, no SLG1 entries which clarify the issue?

The creation of the HU is successful only when I enter the "Pack" functionality and then press the "Pack Automatically" button. In this case, there are no errors. What I would like to achieve is the completely automatic creation of the HU. I have analyzed the SLG1 logs, and there is only the PPF log, which I don't think includes the automatic creation of the HU. I also tried to configure and use the Pack.Spec determination via the "Unified Package Building Profile for Pack. Material Proposal," but the system's behavior hasn't changed. It seems that when using the GRPI tcode, there is no trigger for the automatic creation of the HU. I'm not sure if this isn't supported by the standard or if there’s a missing configuration.

did you try to change the red marked flag in Define Document Types for Inbound Delivery Process?

Yes, I have already tried with and without that flag and the auto pack still doesn't work! 😞
