Hi Dallyanusha,

DP support is not only job monitoring, it involves the other activities.

1) You need to monitor business related background jobs on daily/weekly/monthly basis

2) You need to analyse and take corrective actions for failed jobs

3) Any production related issue, you may receive tickets and accordingly you need to analyse the

issue and find out suitable solutions in line with client

4) Documentation activities if any needs to be carried out

5) For system downtimes/incidents, suitable back ups/job retriggerings needs to be done

6) In DP, updation of CVCs/planning book data extraction if any needs to be carried out.

The primary tasks for APO DP Support are around monitoring BW related jobs / process chains and DP Background Jobs.

First you need to understand the high level design - how many planning objects strucutres / planning areas, how CVCs are generated, how realignment is done, the different macros and their logic, data flow especially how Sales History is obtained based on which Statistical Forecasting is typically carried out, data extracted from DP Planning Area is used for reporting, the overall business cycle which determines the sequence of batch jobs etc.

There is no specific answer to what all is DP Support.

As for enhancements, surely there will be custom development mostly around CVC generation, realignment. There maybe custom macro functions or even user exit macros.

And if your are doing Production Support then surely you will be having display access in the Production Environment primarily to check job runs. To figure out issues you should also have more than display access to Production Support system (often called Stage or Production Support system) which mirrors Production in terms of master and transaction data. Additionally you will have access to Dev system to make any config / development changes to fix issues in Production. These changes will anyway get tested in the Quality / Production Support system before being moved to Production. The exact process will depend on the Change Management Process followed in the Project. That should also define the path to migrate transports to Production.

Hope this helps.
