Hi

1. selection of one data view and one material loaded the data in Planning Book.

2. If we select the other data view in the same planning book, the previous loaded data vanished. Again we need to select the material for populating the data in Planning Book.

Requirement is ,while changing the data view the system should not loss the material selection.

If that is the standard functionality then what is the logic behind it?

Is there any BADI to incorporate this functionality...?

Thanks & Best Regards

Dear Poongunran,

Just one more additional information. If you are there in a PB1-DV1 create some orders and then jump tp PB1-DV2 without saving the previous values and load the same product location. Now you can see the new oders you have created before. This is becuase the system will be using the same SIM session for your process untill u save or refresh.

Hi Poongunran,

You are right that is a standard functionality of SAP APO.

There are a number of reasons for the refresh.

1) Data locking, there is possiblity that between the time the data was previously loaded and the the time the dataview was changed, the data is modified by some other user, so a refresh is required.

2) Different Dataviews can have different Time bucket profiles, to check for those again the refresh is required.

3) There could security authorization differences between dataviews, to check for those, the refresh is required.

You can create selection profiles and have then loaded for both the dataviews. That will speed up the user interaction time in reloading the selection between the dataviews.

What is the specific reason you are looking for such a requirement? What are the differences between the 2 data views you are having?

Hope this helps.

Hi Poongunran,

Why do not you simply open another session for viewing data for the other data view? Life is not so complicated.

Hi Mani

Thanks and all your inputs are highly useful..

Business users want to make their life so easier without understading the System logic......!! (we can say like..this..)

orelse.....The material in 2 data views say for example one monthly values and another is yearly values......so.....normal user's perspective it is common to expect why do we loss our selection ......like...that.....!!....suppose in case we are able to addrees this scanarion they would be happy.....!!

this requirement occurs after creating the selection profile.....only.....!!!

please update your contact details......so that we can discuss various ....issues.....

me....in chennai.....n...my number is +919500092401

Hi Poongunran,

If the dataview differences are only in the time profile, i suggest you create 2 time bucket profiles, 1 monthly and 1 yearly and the users can directly change the same within the same dataview. That way they dont even have to switch dataviews.

The same can be achieved by the "Period Structure" button on the left side top corner of the right side frame in interactive demand planning.

Hope this is helpful.

Thanks

Thanks biplab

business users want to see the material data in 2 data view without losing the material selction.

(eg). Material A have 12 month forecast data..in Dataview 1 and the Same Material have Annual forcast figure as DV2.....their wish is while changing DV1 to DV2.....material selection should not loss....

hence option of opening another session won't fulfill their requiremnet.......and also ....it was not suggestable because..change between data are not one or two.....it was millions.....

hope you can imagine real scanario.....

Hi Mani

That was given an example for understanding.......likewise various cutomized dataviews are there and they are following based on business requirements...and ...it is difficult to explain....!!

The logic behind this data refresh are definely a technical requirement and we are not suppose to bypass or violate the same and hence we need to justify the business with appropriate reasons.
