The first month of 2023 is coming to a close and with that we are already proud to present the latest release of our innovations in the area of Warehouse Management in SAP S/4HANA Cloud 2302. In this latest Cloud release, we delivered a range of enhancements for core functionality (such as Quality Management enhancements, new Fiori App to load freight orders, Advanced Production Integration via Production Material Requests and more), improvements to the user experience and additional extensibility options. And to begin, let’s start by going through what we delivered for our core WM functions.
Improvements in the area of Quality Management
With this latest SAP S/4HANA Cloud release we further enhanced the Quality Management capabilities via the following two features:
Quality Certificates for Goods Receipt – When procuring goods from a supplier, a request can be made that the supplier submits a quality certificate with the shipment of goods. Users can enable the system to check for quality certificates for inspection object type (IOT) “Q-Inspection Product/Batch Inbound Del.” (IOT4) by selecting the “Process Qlty Cert.” (Process Quality Certificate After Goods Receipt (IOT4)) checkbox in the configuration activity “Define and Activate Warehouse-Dependent IOTs”. With this, the system ensures the receipt of the quality certificate and only allows the recording of a usage decision if the receipt of the quality certificate has been recorded.

Material Documents for Usage Decisions in Inspection Lots – With this feature, users can enable the display of material documents for stock postings created as a result of usage decisions for quality inspections in inspection lots. This feature is relevant for inspection object types (IOTs) “Q-Inspection Product/Batch Inbound Del.” (IOT 4) and “Q-Inspection Product/Batch Whse-Internal” (IOT 5).

New Fiori App “Load or Unload Freight Orders”
In this latest release we also deliver a new Freight Order based app to execute loading activities. With the “Load or Unload Freight Orders” app Warehouse Clerks can use the planned freight orders from Transportation Management (TM) to process loading activities in Advanced Shipping and Receiving. Before loading, a warehouse door can be assigned to a loading point using the “Assign Warehouse Door” app. This app can also be used to:
Handle deliveries managed in Warehouse Management
Indicate when a vehicle arrives at or departs from assigned doors
Indicate when goods are loaded
Indicate if goods are loaded completely on stop level
Post goods issue

Advanced Production Integration
One of the biggest Warehouse Management features delivered in this release is the Advanced Production Integration, an alternative to the delivery based production integration that is already available in SAP S/4HANA Cloud WM. With this feature, different staging strategies can be used to supply products to production with reasonable quantities based on a production material request (PMR) in Warehouse Management.
With Advanced Production Integration, Manufacturing Orders from the Manufacturing Execution System are replicated as Production Material Requests (PMR) in SAP EWM. The system creates a PMR in Warehouse Management that contains information about the products that are needed by production and the quantities that are needed for the entire manufacturing order. The PMR can be displayed using the “Display Production Material Requests” app.

Different Staging Strategies can be planned using the “Create Warehouse Tasks - Staging for Production” app. Depending on the product and components, the system proposes a quantity to stage. This can be the entire quantity required by production or a smaller quantity to stage and replenish at intervals. Furthermore, users can post consumption and reverse consumption for production using radio frequency (RF) devices.
With these enhancements, warehouse operators can keep PSA stocks at reasonable levels, and they receive an improved transparency over the Staging, Consumption and Stock situations.
Other Core Functionality Highlights
And here to round off this section, I want to quickly go over two more core function enhancements delivered with this release:
Enhanced Handling Unit Labels – with this feature, users can include more fields on handling unit (HU) labels. Before the SAP S/4HANA Cloud 2302 release, users could only print product and quantity if there was exactly one product in the HU. If there was more than one product, than the products were not printed and were also not available in the data provider for custom-defined labels. Now the data provider contains all items and they can be printed on the label. For serialized products, the serial numbers can also be printed on the HU label.
Nested Handling Units in Field Logistics Cross-Docking – with this feature users can pack handling units (HUs) into other HUs during field logistics cross-docking. For example, items belonging to the same maintenance order can be consolidated into a wire basket in a holding area.
New Fiori App “Manage Outbound Delivery Orders”
With this new application, warehouse operators can monitor and run the outbound process based on outbound delivery orders. Several filters can be used to display the outbound delivery orders on the overview screen. Additionally, multiple actions can be performed, for example, create pick warehouse tasks, print loading lists, adjust the delivery quantity, and post goods issue. In other words, this new app provides a tool for all kind of Outbound Delivery Orders in one app (i.e. one app for production and non-production deliveries), which also allows for extensibility and adaptability to user needs thanks to Fiori Elements.

Improvements to Fiori App “Manage Warehouse Documents”
In this release, the “Display Warehouse Documents” app has been renamed to “Manage Warehouse Documents” in order to reflect the new features.
A warehouse document contains all information about a goods movement, for example, goods receipt or goods issue posting. With this new enhancement, users can cancel warehouse documents created with the following apps in Manage Warehouse Documents:
Manage Physical Stock – Products
Post Goods Issue – Unplanned
Aside from cancelling warehouse documents, this app also allows to:
Display warehouse documents created with other apps.
Enter a reason for movement when canceling a complete warehouse document or individual items in a warehouse document.
Enter a posting date when canceling warehouse documents posted with the Migration Cockpit.

Warehouse Analytics Content for SAP Analytics Cloud
“Warehouse Dashboard for Daily Operation” is an SAP Analytics Cloud (SAC) story with 3 pages to analyze the key performance indicators (KPIs) relevant to warehouse operations, for both inbound and outbound processes. SAC is an end-to-end cloud solution that brings together business intelligence, augmented analytics, predictive analytics, and enterprise planning in a single system. SAC story can be used as a starting point to design your own application (For more information about creating analytical applications using stories, see Manage KPIs and Reports).
Aside from the new SAC Dashboards, the following extensibility options were also made available for Warehouse Management in SAP S/4HANA Cloud:
Cloud BAdI: “Change of Requested Quantity for Stock Removal” – with this BAdI, the requested quantity can be changed during the creation of pick warehouse tasks for stock removal. It is also possible to change the handling unit (HU) type or convert the quantity to an alternative unit of measure (UoM). The system then converts the base quantity to the alternative UoM and displays it in the warehouse task.
Extensibility of Outbound Delivery Orders – with this feature, additional fields can be added to outbound delivery orders on header level and item level. The new fields can be added to the outbound delivery order if the relevant LE delivery was also extended by the same fields. The fields can then be replicated to the outbound delivery order.
