In sync with the delivery of new versions of SAP Integrated Business Planning, we provide each quarter a new version of the SAP Best Practices for SAP Integrated Business Planning.
Besides the upgrade and test of the content and the technical assets based on the newest release, we enhance our scope with new topics and features. For 1902 we added the following two new scope items:
IBP for sales and operations – time-series-based forecast consumption
As an optional step after the demand review and before the supply review, forecast consumption ensures that sales orders reduce or consume the forecast by the sales order quantity for defined periods.
Using the S&OP forecast consumption algorithm, the supply planner can generate the open forecast and the total demand.
The supply planner decides how to calculate the consumption of the forecast based on business needs, for example forward only, first forward, then backward.
Finally, the supply planner copies the total demand to the consensus demand via the disaggregation operator. The forecast consumption results can be used as input for the optimizer or heuristics.
This prevents that the planning algorithm considers the demand quantity twice (once as the forecast and once as the actual sales order) an improves so the forecast accurary and reduces overproducing.

IBP – time-series-based inbound integration with SAP S/4HANA
The Integration between SAP S/4HANA and SAP Integrated Business Planning for time-series-based planning is a key part in almost every implementation project.
We are using here new extractors in SAP S/4HANA, the supply chain integration add-on for SAP IBP and new templates in SAP Cloud Platform Integration for data services (also called CPI-DS) to provide a starting point for your integration project. In this release it covers master data types as listed here - but you can expect more to come in the next quarters.

The scope item describes the complete integration process starting with the prerequisites steps done in SAP S/4HANA add-on, the configuration that is required in CPI-DS including the creation of datastores, system configuration, projects, and tasks, as well as running the integration and finally the check of the results.
This helps you to reduce significantly implementation efforts and costs.
