Hi,
first of all I think that this site is really good and provides me with lots of information. My questions right now is, where I should post Portal related questions.
The way I see it, there are 4 official sites I would use and check if I had a problem with eg. iViews from the Portal.
- www.iviewstudio.com --> the dev forum
- sap.com/community --> this forum looks like a not-so-technical forum, but still has some good technical informaiton
- www.sdn.sap.com --> new SAP Developer Network. Not too big right now, but I think it will keep growing
- and of course serivce.sap.com/notes --> but that is not really a forum to discuss things.
It would be really great, if SAP could combine at least iviewstudio, /community and sdn to one big forum. UserMapping from this site helps, but I still have to check four sites. Maybe a global search option would be a start...
So what road is SAP taking?
Thanks for any comment,
Holger.
PS. Also posted on iviewstudio.com and sap.com/community
Hi Holger,
Thanks for your comments. Our goal with SDN is to make it a central collaboration hub of information for technical people. You rightly point out that in the past there have been many places to go. Think of SDN as a starting point for your technical 'how to' information. If you have a specific bug that you want to log into the SAP system, then of course you may wish to go straight to Service Marketplace. If it is a sales and marketing related question you can go to SAP Community. As a first step SDN is providing links and single sign on capabilities with the different sites (SAP and non-SAP sites included). As a second step we are looking to provide a global search capability that would make it easier to search from one place (SDN) to find all related information whether on SDN or not. In this way we hope that SDN members find it easier to find all the technical information that is available on SAP.
