Hi,
I have 6 years of work experiece in I.T. as Senior Quality Assurance Specialist[5 years] and Business Analyst[1 year].
I want to switch my career to SAP [specifically in finance domain]. I am highly interested and motivated by SAP and want to enter into it anyhow.
Please suggest suggest me the certifications that I can pursue and anything else that can help me in switching my career to SAP.
Thanks in advance.
Request clarification before answering.
Hi,
First things first: what is it about SAP that makes you so highly motivated and interested? Have you got any SAP experience? Are you more functional or technical?
cheers
Paul

Hi Paul,
I was working as a Quality Assurance specialist in Banking and Finance domain [for clients such as AMEX and MasterCard] since last 5 years. Over last one year I came in contact with SAP finance persons and learnt a lot about their roles and responsibilities.
As the time passed, I found myself more indulging towards SAP and have inner feeling that I could have done or do better in SAP Functional [Finance].
Since last one year, I have lot of hard work in order to gain domain knowledge [apart from my regular work] required to be a SAP consultant. Now, I feel more confident and have inner willingness to pursue my career as a SAP FICO person.
Based on my work experience and the knowledge I have grasped in last few years, I consider my 70 / 30 Functional / Technical person in present scenario.
Please provide me a direction through which I can achieve my long awaited dream!!
Hello Rahul,
At this point, you need not delay anymore. First thing is to get yourself enrolled in a good training institute that can train you on SAP FICO.
There are a lot of them out there depending on where you are at the moment.
Make sure you get a good one. You are right about SAP being a much sought after course.
In just 3 months, depending on your training and personal commitments, you should be 60% there .
The rest 40%, you will obtain through work experience.
I hope this helps.
Regards
Sulaiman
Thanks a lot Sulaiman, your thoughts really provided me great mental support, as I was facing lot of dilemma whether to pursue the course or not. Now, I am definitely going for the course
I am from India and I have contacted SAP authorised center [ATOS] for the certification.
Although, I have a bit of concern left about the placements, since I will be a fresher in SAP world. Can you provide any thoughts on that?
Thanks again!!
Rahul,
You wont regret your decision to enter into the SAP world. Its a good thing you have a training center in mind.
I am sure they will be able to put you through whatever you need to know and assist you to get ready for the job market.
However like I said in my previous mail, once you are through with your training, you should not have any difficulties with placements.
SAP FICO Solutions Architect/ Consultants are always in high demand in most countries and there are a number of roles you can play as a SAP FICO consultant. All needing various levels of experience.
First things first, get your training.
Best Regards
Sulaiman
