Developer in 2024 : which is the best way ?

Hello, 

I'm an Abap expert (classic or object etc). I've done 2 upgrade in this position. I know also Fiori free style and a little of Fiori element. 
Now I can influence development approach in several context but I'm a bit confused in what is the good approach to create a Fiori App.

And now you can do : 

for back-end : classic (SEGW), RAP, CAP and also CAP in the cloud
for front-end : Fiori freestyle, Fiori elements, Full-stack with productivity tools, annotations on cds

And I suppose I forgot options. Plus the configuration of the customer : private cloud, on premise... Plus the knowledge of the IT company.

I know I have to progress for CAP but is it the same in back-end and btp.

I'll appreciate any advice.

Hi Christophe, could you please explain what you mean when you say "I know I have to progress for CAP"? Who says that? What's wrong with RAP? IMHO, RAP is state of the art and should be the preferred programming model for ABAP experts like us.

Hi Christophe, you will find details on the different approaches in the second learning offering Margit shared in her answer. If you need a deep dive into RAP, look for the tutorials on help.sap.com or to the S4D437 training (new version coming soon). BTW: RAP is the same on all platforms, whether you develop inside the S/4-system or on SAP BTP, ABAP Environment (side-by-side).
