Thank you very much!
So, it's how SAP name at a very high level the groups of software functionalities provided by SAP versus needed by a customer. It's a very high-level notion that is not part of software and not needed by developers to practice extensibility.
In the chapter What is a Software Extension. Copyrighted image:
« All software is designed with a scope in mind.
NB: for my next searches, I guess I should find easily if I'd Google by scoping only the tutorial pages e.g.: https://www.google.com/search?q=software+scope+site%3Alearning.sap.com%2Flearning-journeys%2Fpractic....
Thank you for your question. This question is based off of the first figure in “Unit 1, Lesson 1: Evaluating the Need for Extensions”. That lesson outlines how SAP software can be thought of as being assigned to different “scopes”. The “delivered” scope is the specific functionality software has “out of the box” ( delivered by SAP ). “Required” scope is what specific software functionality is required by the customer. If the required scope is different than the delivered scope then “extensions” or “modifications” to the software may be necessary. “Specific” scope is a subset of “Required” scope. It refers to software functionality that is specific for an industry or a region ( South America for example ). SAP has industry solutions and localization features to fulfill these scope requirements for customers.
