Recent studies reveal that the majority of SAP customers are planning to implement, or are already implementing, SAP S/4HANA software to innovate for business growth: 70 percent of members in the German-Speaking SAP User Group (DSAG) and 55 percent of members in Americas’ SAP Users’ Group (ASUG) are in the process of implementing, or planning to implement SAP S/4HANA.

As businesses transform and move to SAP S/4HANA, skills in the software have become high demand on the job market. A study from McKinsey & Company reports, that 87% of companies are either facing skill gaps already or expect gaps to develop within the next five years. With the paradigm shift of fast-paced innovation and the need for digital skills, a critical point for individuals to focus on is acquiring crucial skills and the certification to back it up and thus secure their spot on the job market.

Stay ahead of competition

As SAP reports, learners are realizing there is huge value in understanding SAP S/4HANA capabilities and are taking the needed steps to get certified: “The number of individuals certified in SAP S/4HANA has increased by 73 percent since last year, with over 110 experts certified each day. More than 74,000 – and counting – are currently learning about SAP S/4HANA and collaborating with coaches, trainers, peers, and other experts in SAP Learning Rooms for SAP S/4HANA. In just the first half of 2020, approximately 11,500 learners participated in almost 400 live sessions on SAP S/4HANA.

With more and more people understanding the value of upskilling and certifying in SAP S/4HANA, learners need to stay ahead of the curve to not be left behind. Getting trained and certified is not only ‘a nice to have’ option anymore, it’s a crucial asset in the digitalization wave.

Bring value to your career

Certifying in SAP S/4HANA is not only vital to stay ahead of the competition on the job market, IT certifications also bring several benefits to individuals’ careers. A recent Pearson VUE study reported benefits of an IT  certification, which extend to growth in career opportunities and earning potential. Among these are:

  • 35 percent increase in salary

  • 28 percent increase of responsibilities

  • 44 percent increase of quality work output

  • 55 percent increase in ability to transfer knowledge to work situations

  • 67 percent increase of self-confidence in using new skills

Additionally, 91 percent of Pearson VUE’s survey respondents felt the value of certification to be greater than training alone. This highlights how the professional credibility in the workplace gained through certification is worth the investment. Personal productivity, greater efficiency, and higher quality work outputs were revealed by the survey participants to have increased from earning a new IT certification.

One student who participated in this year’s Digital Learning Offering for Academic Students and upskilled with SAP Learning Hub, thus achieving SAP Global Certification, noted that this “shows not only that I went above and beyond and earned an additional certification over my other students, but the certification shows I have a thorough and rigorous understanding of business processes.”

How to get started

SAP has developed the SAP Training and Adoption portfolio to provide comprehensive support for new skill building, with user-centered experiences tailored to how individual learners learn best –anywhere at any time – as well as access to award-winning training for the latest SAP products, solutions, and technologies. The portfolio’s learning offerings for SAP professionals aim to help anyone build and maintain their SAP software skills and achieve an SAP Global Certification.

One of the key learning solutions for SAP professionals to prepare for an SAP Global Certification is SAP Learning Hub. SAP Learning Hub supports learners to build and maintain SAP solution skills with online, collaborative, hands-on, and expert-led training. Learners can start their learning experience with Learning Journeys interactive guides, with recommended paths to full solution competency, specific for the learner’s roles and goals. More than 40 SAP S/4HANA-specific Learning Journeys are available for learners to expand their knowledge and skills or to get certified.

Another option to prepare for an SAP Global Certification is to use instructor-led training. Here, learners can get the SAP training they need, delivered by SAP instructors in an SAP classroom or online through SAP Live Class. Learners can experience dynamic learning that encourages active discussions with a group of like-minded peers and addresses their specific questions.

For those who prefer a combination of classroom and self-paced learning, SAP also offers a hybrid learning solution, the SAP Blended Learning Academy program, offering a flexible learning model to prepare for SAP S/4HANA certifications. SAP Blended Learning Academy combines virtual SAP Live Class sessions, which are moderated by SAP instructors, with self-study using SAP Learning Hub and concludes with an SAP S/4HANA certification exam.
