On July 17 and 18, a two days workshop on Design Thinking took place at the Albert-Schweizer Gymnasium in Neckarsulm, German. Throughout the two-days, 22 students between the ages of 17 and 19 experienced the Design Thinking methodology by creating prototypes for new app solutions on the overall topic “New Apps for the young generation”. This included amongst other topics a school planner that includes homework, subjects, grades, goals and timetables.
On the first day the school students dealt with research, syntheses and the idea finding phase. The second day started with a recap and was followed with the prototype creation. Each team was assigned to a coach, who guided them through all Design Thinking steps. Several techniques and skills were used to inspire the students and increase their creativity, i.e., interviews, drawing, post-its and role-play. In the end each group presented their prototypes.
