I did not do the math when I introduced the community to our special guest Matthias Finger and claimed that very likely the people in the room were responsible for more than 80% of the energy bills sent out in Switzerland in one way or the other - but I'm sure that I'm pretty close.
What struck me was that the scientific perspective Matthias has on the network industries matches completely what our customers experience as their daily, hands-on challenge: Digitilzation is the tool to overcome inefficiencies - and by getting around those, our customers start to be in a position to innovate.
SAP Inspire for Utilities in Bern brought customers and partners together in Bern on the 27th of September, 2022, to share experience, knowledge and be inspired.
What would be a better place to meet in this community than the Energiezentrale Bern?
The venue is a perfect mix of innovative spirit and the solid attitude towards reliability and performance which makes the swiss utilities industry a key contributor to the wellfare of Switzerland.
Daniela Sellmann, Head of SAP's Industry Business Unit Utilities, kicked off the event with an insight on how SAP reads the signals received from the markets and how we translate those signals into a strategy: With SAP for Utilities we provide the leading platform for utility companies to run their business - and a path to pursue their digital transformation strategies.
As a true community driven event, the contributions of our customers and partners then showed us what operating utilities and establishing new products in our markets means: From Energy Communities, presented by ewb and Exnaton over automation and transformation, presented by bpc.ag and agilita to advanced analytics, demonstrated by hydro exploitation to e-mobility billing as shown by Romande energy we covered the hot topics of the industry.
