How to add/remove items from recording in Activity Documents

Hello,

I'm trying to find information on how to configure the Activity Documents to add or remove certain actions from being displayed.

I currently have 2 needs.

1. In SLCM Master Data, the users are requesting to turn on Activity Documents for changes in student address. They don't feel the current address history gives them what they need. We currently do not have any activity documents turned on for Master Data, and I'm told that the reason this was done was due to the processing load on the system. Is it possible to turn on Activity documents for master data...with only one element like this selected?

2. In SLCM Student File, the users would like to remove the activity document for when Prog. Type Progression is run. They run this almost every day during certain periods of the year and feel that it is cluttering up the more important activities.

I'm having trouble finding where this might be configured in the IMG. Does anyone have any documentation on this in general?

Thank you for your time!

Mike,

First, welcome to the BPX!

Second, I have some suggestions for you.

Let's tackle the easier problem first. For filtering out the Progression Activity Documents, you can simply create a new Layout for the grid that displays the Activity Documents in the Student File. Just use the 'Change Layout' button on the ALV control and set up a filter so that the Progression Activity Documents do not show. You could even create multiple layouts for different users. Alternatively, you could use the delivered Archiving capability to periodically archive off particular types of Activity Documents.

For the Master Data issue: Are you sure you really want ACTIVITY documents for student master data changes? In the IMG (under Campus Management, Basic Settings, Change Documents), you can easily activate CHANGE documents for the Infotypes you need. However, the addresses are part of the Business Partner settings, and not infotypes. With version 6.0 and above (based on ERP2004 and above), there is VALIDITY DATING for the addresses. This would probably satisfy the users' requirements for the history for the addresses (although I don't know specifically what they are looking for).

Hi Michael,

Thank you so much for the welcome and fast reply!

I am fairly new to the SLCM functional analyst role here at CMU (1 year) and I am trying to find all the documentation I can on issues that come up. I hope I can participate more in the future to enhance these forums.

As for the easier problem...that is a wonderful idea! I had not even thought of that. Thank you! I will look into that immediately.

For the Master Data issue...I am not sure we want to turn that on at all. I am simply investigating my options. Currently we are on 4.72 but should be moving to version 6 in the near future. Do you have any helpful ideas on where I can learn more on Validity Dating? I have to admit...I often struggle trying to find information on SAP's OSS support site. Maybe I just need more practice.

Thanks again for your help!
