Greetings, Builders! We’re pleased to bring you the Q3 Edition of our What’s New in SAP Build series. In this edition, we’re covering product-specific updates for:
SAP Build Apps
Release management and project lifecycle management: It’s now possible to release and transport projects across different tenants using SAP Cloud Transport Management System. You can transport project versions between subaccounts while isolating development, testing, and productive deployment of SAP Build Apps applications to their own landscapes. To get started, see this blog post.
Performant table list with large dataset from S/4HANA: Managing and displaying large amounts of data in an application can be challenging and cause performance issues. Check out this example of creating a performant list page for an S/4HANA Cloud endpoint with 65k+ records - see the blog post.
Copying pages within one project: This feature enables users to copy and duplicate a page within a project in SAP Build Apps – a simple, yet powerful, add-on to further speed up development.
New Build Service: We recently launched a new and improved experience for deploying application packages. The build service includes managing image assets, iOS usage strings, mobile service enablement, package creation, and configuration management. The updated UI provides a much smoother experience for developers at the deployment phase, ensuring that every requirement is met and that your apps are ready to publish. Try it out today!
SAP Build Process Automation
Script Task Editor: It's now possible to write JavaScript code in the new Script Editor, allowing the execution of complex data type transformations and additional operations on the process context. Previously this was limited to automation - now it includes process inputs and custom variables, facilitating advanced data manipulation and transformation. See more in the blog post.
Scheduled trigger: Now you can schedule process automations based on user-defined time intervals and dates at runtime. This allows you to enable system-centric and time-based process automation use cases, such as working and nonworking days in creating your automation scenarios to avoid resource mismatches.
Additional Outcomes in Forms and UI5 Support for Tasks: This enables citizen developers to configure additional outcome actions in the process to let approvers request rework in case of missing or wrong information in approval forms. You can also start filling out multiple forms efficiently through a guided experience.
Advanced Event Project Creation with Manual Specification Upload: This allows users to upload business event specifications for the creation of an event project in the lobby. The new feature adds support for business events across lines of business (LOBs) and custom events, including third-party events that are supported at runtime using SAP Event Mesh.
Process Visibility enhancements: These include actionable insights, instance tracking for requestors and additional monitoring capabilities via CALM. Now you can turn insights into meaningful outcomes and enable the triggering of escalation flows based on visibility insights, to directly react and resolve critical situations. This enables auditable and governed escalation resolution, instead of having disconnected communication through different channels.

SAP Build Work Zone, SAP Start, and SAP Task Center
SAP Build Work Zone, both editions
HTML5 Business Solution as a Content Provider: With the latest update in SAP Build Work Zone, you can now expose BTP-based applications as Work Zone content, like roles, spaces, and pages, in the 'Common Data Model' (CDM) format. As a result, you can easily configure and enable access to BTP applications from a Work Zone instance, even across subaccounts. See more in the Help Portal and this blog post.
SAP Build Work Zone, standard edition
Define Sort Order of pages and spaces: Administrators can now configure how spaces and pages are sorted on the menu bar of SAP Build Work Zone, standard edition. This feature is only applicable if you're working in the new experience view mode for spaces and pages. See more in the Help Portal.
Import and Export of Pages and Spaces: Content manager tools will be enhanced to enable administrators to export and import custom (locally created) spaces and pages between landscapes.
SAP Build Work Zone, advanced edition
Integrated guided experience across SAP Build Work Zone and Process Automation*: Guided processes are now available as an artifact in SAP Build Process Automation. In addition to the previously available “no template” wizards, it is now possible to create guided, process-based wizards in SAP Build Work Zone.
*Note: This will become GA in October 2024.
SAP Start
Directly navigate to product home pages of integrated cloud solutions: The SAP Start site offers a new product section to easily see and navigate to the product home pages of the integrated solutions. This enables transparency of available cloud solutions for the current user, and quick and easy navigation to launch the product home page of the desired solution.
SAP Task Center
ITCE partner page: SAP Task Center now allows connections with third-party task providers. The first solution to leverage this capability is TaskConnect, developed by ITCE in collaboration with SAP architects and technical consultants. The application will soon be available on the SAP Store as well, offering a comprehensive configuration guide, installation manuals and BPMN diagrams. For more information about TaskConnect, see here.
