Odd options in the Comment display

Active Contributor

So I was able to find where we can see all the comments made but there are some very odd options available. This is the source link for the screenshot (I'm guessing it'd take everyone to the same screen for their comments):

1. What are "Pings"? We used to call the @-mentions "pings" but as far as I understand this feature is no longer available.

2. What is "Unapprove" for? And why would I click "Spam" on my own comment? These options seem to be appropriate for the moderators but I'm not one.

3. Also previously I believe it was not possible to delete at least some comments after someone replied to them. Now if I start trashing my comments wouldn't it make the respective threads very confusing? I've already seen some replies that seem to be addressed to the comments no longer in existence and it looks bizarre.

Very helpfull, thanks for the link!

It helped me

1. find out that one of my comments (the one on was "under Modaration" - I don't know why!

2. I was abel to "approve" that comment, so it should be fine now....

Pings are probably "comments" that result from Wordpress "pingbacks"/"trackbacks" (when someone links to your blog).

I guess SAP guys have not (yet) found a way or time to customize-up the Wordpress UI completely - with plenty of white spaces and empty Action buttons. Shhh, don't give them idea (jk) 🙂

You are right, there is little point in moderating own comments (maybe put it in pending while editing it..?), but, apart from Edit, where I get http 403 "you don't have permission", the functionality seems to work... And at least there is intuitive, functioning, no "[Show more] instead of paging" own blog comment list, including the "legacy" comments. Thanks, I had not yet noticed it.

Edit in:

ok, I now get the bug someone reported about weird behavior when posting after spending long time writing... duplicated text and all. But at least the text was not lost.
