Hi friends,

I have been using SDN from more than 1 year now , but what i reall feel is sometimes there are some errors and logs which you cannot post in the thread which makes it very long thread.

And then people use their personal email ids to forward the same.which is not so correct i guess.

Do you think there should be facility provided to send snapshots or detail logs seperately which is linked to the thread. So less time is spent in understanding exact errors and solving the same.

Best Regards,

AR

Folks,

As previously there was at least a facility to send error document or snapshots of errors , logs to personal mail-id , now that is also banned on SDN ,

then people will post their entire logs and whatever in posts and then post becomes too ugly to even read entirely.

You are right about virus protection , but we can use same concept of rapidshare

so only those can access the link and attachment who want to have a look at those errors..

Secondly at other side of coin , imagine if everybody posts there errors , logs and other non-required stuffs it will be hard to manage database for SDN guys.

Also without all those logs nobody can exact and pin point exact problem.

I think Moderator would definitely think some smart way out for this problem.

Huh? No such thing is banned. People's emails are in their business cards if they want them to be public.

It's about being clear in your question and posting what's relevant. Sadly most questions don't follow guidelines (including your post). Of course it's also useful for folks searching the archives, that's why private mails are discouraged.

er, since SDN has always been this way, I can only assume this problem has been ongoing for years. Could you please show us some examples because I've never noticed this?

I prefer an error message in the text to an attachment as it's actually easier to read, downloads faster, and cheaper when I'm paying by the MB for net access.

Just my 2p,

Mike,

Example is , somehow my installation is getting error message now there are 10 to 11 logs which are interdependent and each one contains massive amount of logs.

I am not saying send them to personal email id , ( its greate that IDs are not encouraged )

I am saying instead of logs throughout the posts , we can paste one link , and suppose i want to provide solution for the same , i click on the same and analyse all logs , then post possible solution.

A link based logs , normally i am speaking in Basis area where so much of logs being asked for analysis...

I'm all for attachments....but then you get "those guys" that will attach huge image files, spam, pr0n, viruses/trojans, etc......moderators have a hard enough time with moderating simple text posts....can you imagine modding the attachments too!?!?!?

Hi AR,

Yes, I do agree with what you are saying. There should be some provision to attach the documents to the posts which might contain the screen shots, specs etc, sample codes etc.......like an email concept of attaching.

I appreciate your opinion.I am with you on this.

Thanks,
