Is it possible to set push notifications on the community portal?

Hi,

There is a requirement in my solution to regularly publish what's new blogs for every release and somehow automatically send the notifications to customers.

Are any of the following options possible?

1. Publish a blog and send a notification to users that something new is available

2. If users are following specific tags, will they get a notification if something with that tag is published?

3. If users follow a community page, will they get any notification?

Is there any other way to send notifications to users?

Thanks.

Hello vinogandhi.muthukrishnan , when you publish a blog post, every user will get notified when they are following the respective tag. Please note that notifications will only be sent for the first tag.

The notification settings can be maintained in the communications area in your personal SAP Community profile (see image below). User can decide if they get the notification in the SAP Community inbox or per email. This video shows you how to change your email notification settings so you never miss important and relevant content.

Following a community topic page is not possible so there is no notification setting on this.

We often promote content via the SAP Community Voice newsletter. Members can subscribe here: https://sap.com/cmp/nl/sap-community-voice/index.html

This helps to stay on track, too.

Hello vinogandhi.muthukrishnan why do you want to update a blog post? Usually, blog posts should not be updated. It's a stand-alone piece. If the content may be outdated, we recommend to write a new blog post instead and comment on the existing post with the link to the new blog post. And people get 2 notifications, so they won't miss anything.

- one for the new blog post

- one for the new comment on the post - prerequisite is following the blog post

@svea.becker your response makes sense in the case of standalone blogs.
How about FAQs posted in blogs? For want of a better option, i have created an FAQ and published it as a blog. And this needs regular updates. What would you suggest in such scenarios?

Also, is there a better way to publish a set of FAQs?

Thanks.

Hi vinogandhi.muthukrishnan ,

A blog post is not the purpose of posting FAQ. There we have alternative solutions, like the subtopic pages. Please contact us at sapcommunity@sap.com so we can discuss this topic offline.

Thank you,

Svea
