I appreciate your hints, but honestly I think SDN provides good information but is a mess. For example: click on Developer Areas -> EP/EP Technical consultants and then on the right under "quick links" on "EP 6.0 Articles for Technical Consultants". What you find there are the development document!? A site which is in my opinion provides a good structure: http://dev2dev.bea.com

DevToday https://www.sdn.sap.com/sdn/devnews.sdn is our "latest" section. It only shows the documents that were added to SDN within the last 4 weeks.
The great thing is, you can taylor it to your needs, give the area that interest you the most more weight and the items on the screen get rearranged according to your selection. Quite neat.

You can do document searches in Advanced Search that restrict the returns to only a specific version of EP. Just use the Developer Areas>EP>EP Versions>6.0 check box to restrict your returns while in Advanced Search mode.
We are hoping to implement a "top downloads" idea in the near future. It is a good idea.
