Search for Environmentally Relevant Materials

Hi All,

Is there anyway in the standard system that we can search all materials that have the Enironmentally Rlvt. Indicator set?  Same as for DG Indicators?  Also, how does the system know which material is relevant for REACH, also SVT.  Which view of the material would those indicators be on?

TIA,

Niraj

Dear Niraj,

It is possible to list all materials which are Environmentally relevant  and also for DG indicator set.

Steps:

Goto table SE16, enter the table name as MARA and execute.

Under Settings, choose Field selection and search the field name KZUMW for Environmentally relevant indicator. Choose the field and press enter. In the data browser table , make entries as YES for the these fields and execute. You will find all materials which have this indicator set.

Same goes for the DG Indicator also. check for field: PROFL

Hope this resolves your query.

Regards

Dhinesh.

Hi Dinesh,

Thanks for such a detailed response.  That is exactly what I needed!!!

Would you be able to address the last question regarding REACH relevant materials.  Look at the first sentence from SAP Help.  Where in the material on ERP side can I mark a material for REACH Relevant?

I read this from SAP Help:

In the material master in SAP ERP, specify whether the material is relevant for REACH. The relevance of the material is displayed in SAP REACH Compliance. You use this information to continue the REACH process if the material is subject to REACH.

Thanks again for the help,

Niraj

Dear Niraj

regarding:

"Also, how does the system know which material is relevant for REACH, also SVT" there is no "easy" answer

By using customizijng you can select material type whcih are "reach" relevant and by usinbg a material class you can deactivate or activate the material as Reach relevant.

But thi sis only the "master data point of view".If the material would be reach relevant you would see that (assuming you have prepared all the relevant SVT customzing) using transaction code cbrc20.

Thanks C.B.

Definitely understanding the concept more!

I am not sure if this is true, but would it be "almost" safe to say that if the Environmentally Relevant Indicator is set, that the material could be REACH Relevant?  Have you come across many cases where we did not have Environmentally Indicator set and the substance was REACH relevant.

Thanks,

Niraj

When you implement the REACH solution you should use the class ZRCS_REACH_REL which are delivered by SAP as part of the installation as well as all needed characteristics. The class (type 001) is assigned in the material master and the overview of the material you'll get in the REACH portal and not in SAP.

If you want to use SE16, then you have to trace through several tables which are used in the classification, so there is no easy way to get an overview in SE16

Dear Niraj,

Regarding:

"I am not sure if this is true, but would it be "almost" safe to say that if the Environmentally Relevant Indicator is set, that the material could be REACH Relevant"?

Answer depends on SVT set up an "philosophy" used by your company. Using the SVT set up I assume that you can "reduce" REACh relevant materials by selecting if or if not this indicator is set. Normally this is done by the "material class" (classification) and other similar stuff.

Hope this helps

When you implement the REACH solution you use the class ZRCS_REACH_REL which are delivered by SAP as part of the REACH installation as well as all needed characteristics. This class is assigned the materials in the material master.

Then take this class name and maintain as a value for the environment parameter

SVT_MATERIAL_CLASS (delivered as part of the REACH installation) in the following Customizing activity:

Environment, Health and Safety->Basic Data and Tools->Basic Settings->Specify Environment Parameters

Often REACH and SVT can be combined, but SVT is not a requirement for REACH.

SVT could also be used as part of e.g. Hazardous Substance Mgmt

.

As far as I know it is only the material class  ZRCS_REACH_REL is maintained in combination with the environment parameter SVT_MATERIAL_CLASS, that you can conclude that a material is REACH relevant.

Hope this answer was useful.

Thank you Eric,

I appreciate the feedback and in depth explanations.  After reading what you wrote and a bit of brainstorming, I was able to get the report I needed by using the AUSP table.

I basically took all the materials I wanted to check to see if they were REACH Relevant (and SVT Relevant), and put them in the selection criteria for Object key.  Then I took the characteristic names for chars SAP_RCS_MATBAS_ISRELEVANT and SAP_EHS_SVT_RELEVANT and put those in the Internal Char selection Criteria.  Lastly I put the char value as 1 (yes).  That gave me all materials that have Reach Relevant or SVT Relevant equal to yes.

Thanks again for all the ideas and insight,

Niraj
